What are your thoughts?......

The last federal minimum wage increase was in 2009 to $7.25/hour. But the rate of inflation increase since 2009 is a bit over 50%. During that 16 year period we have had both Democratic and Republican administrations.
Any ideas as to why this is our current reality?
Just curious...

Filibuster.

Kill the filibuster, expand the court and then, ram through bill after bill that protects and benefits the American people, including raising the minimum wage

It's bizarre the federal $7.25 has never been adjusted up. Like, who actually pays that. Even in states that use the fed wage, most jobs pay much more. States like Idaho - 7.25 an hour, but entry level jobs average $15 an hour. Very weird

CA
2009 - 8.00
2025 - 16.50

WA
2009 - 8.55
2025 - 16.66

OR
2009 - 8.40
2025 - 15.05

with necessary increases for inflation until the present,
the minimum wage would now be somewhere between $20 and $25

(i forget the exact figure)....

Large megadonors want employees who are stuck at near slave wages.

40 plus years of hate radio has convinced poor white people that raising the minimum wage will steal from white small businesses owners and give money to black and brown people and make women more uppity.

In short, because those with wealth and power want it. They get it. The filibuster and the overweighting of Confederate and near zero population fly over states, make sure it won't get through the Senate.

Elimination of the minimum wage altogether is in project 2025 ...so you can follow the money to know who fights against a livable minimum wage
