The funniest part is that none of this is surprising. Therefore, many Republicans were ready to join the Democrats in order to break the shut down to keep their seats. They were beginning to pressure Johnson to reopen the House. Senate Republicans were also making similar noises because they realized that they were losing the shut down / SNAP debate to the Democrats. All of that was going to result in negotiations with the Democrats on those issues in order to produce a bill to reopen the government. The pressure on Trump would rapidly become so powerful he would be forced to sign the bill. The Democrats would be handed a great political victory that they could campaign on.

Little did I know that three days later eight Democratic Quislings would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and sell out.

This Rawstory article complete supports the theory that Trump has become much weaker. He no longer wields the fear factor. There is a civil war actually in progress among the MAGAts. There was absolutely no need for the Democrats to bend the knee. They were winning.

The issue isn't so much that the 8 Democrats voted with the Republicans to achieve a necessary victory.

It's that they walked away with absolutely nothing. And the public was starting to finally see what was at stake, and that Democrats were holding out to RENEW the tax credits, and that Republicans want them to expire so that they can re-direct the funds to Musk, Zuckerberg, Thiel, and Bezos.

I'm not "bashing Dems," and I know you aren't either. i simply refuse to "defend" the votes of those 8 Democrats.
