NY-12: Parkland survivor (D) launches bid for Nadler's seat
Parkland shooting survivor Cameron Kasky has launched a bid for Rep. Jerry Nadlers (D-N.Y.) seat, joining the likes of Jack Schlossberg former President Kennedys grandson in the race for New Yorks 12th Congressional District.
My name is Cameron Kasky, and Im running for Congress because theres no real path forward for most Americans. You and your family are working all week just to spend most of your paycheck on rent and health care, Kasky said in a video posted to the social platform X on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the richest people in our country are telling us that we cant afford real solutions like social housing and Medicare for All, he added.
Kasky co-founded the March For Our Lives movement, which pushed for stricter gun laws following the Parkland, Fla., shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. He left the group later that year.
