My view is the precise opposite. I'd hate 'em both, don't mistake me. But it's a matter of "calculus of least harm," really. If the attacker really is a dirt bag, and my only option is to kill him (assumed from the language employed: "...having to kill...&quot , then the path of least harm is almost certain to be in favor of my survival.

It's just not cool to promote your views by putting words in someone else mouth.
I'm sure you wouldn't like it being done to you?

I might end up with PTSD or not. But, all in all I would rather kill the dirtbag. It would definitely end their homicidal career. It would probably save someone else's life down the line as well. All I know is dirtbags often meet violent ends or end up in prison.

I don't mind killing a guy who is trying to kill me. I don't mind burying him. My problem is killing animals that cannot protect or defend themselves, so I am no hunter. Now I do take a fancy to killing insects of any kind, they get no mercy. Well I let the good ones go. ie. butterflys, lady bugs.

And it looked like it was about to attack you. Would you shoot it? Or would you let it eat you?

Hypothetical question.

Your scenario states that he is a violent criminal, and assumes that you have the ability to kill him before he kills you. If you allow him to live, by killing you, he will almost certainly kill again at some time. By failing to stop him when you had the chance you decided that he should be free to kill again.

You hear it from soldiers in war who have to deal with all the killing--even in self defense it's gotta be awful.

You seem to be saying that if given the choice between you dying and him dying, you would pick death for yourself.

You might want to reevaluate your self worth and what you are worth to your family.
