Three other former vice presidents will be on hand as well: Al Gore, a Democrat, and Mike Pence and Dan Quayle, both Republicans.
Conspicuously left off the list: Trump, which, Baker notes, "is hardly a surprise." Vice President JD Vance, however, was invited, but hasn't said if he would attend even though it's custom for the sitting VP to "honor the service of someone who once held the same office," Baker notes.
"Trump ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff after Mr. Cheneys death, as required by law, but issued no statement and has refrained from commenting publicly," Baker says.
Other Trump administration officials are also staying away, as are those "incumbent Republican members of Congress who still want a political future may stay away as well, out of fear of angering Mr. Trump, who considers Ms. Cheney one of his chief nemeses," Baker writes.

(23,270 posts)I just did a quick search. This was via Bing:
Not invited
Vice President JD Vance was not invited to Dick Cheney's funeral. Both he and President Donald Trump were absent from the service, which was attended by former Presidents George W. Bush and Joe Biden, along with other notable figures.

I think that until I see a valid source saying that he WAS, I'll stick with "WASN'T."

(9,067 posts)A year from now he might not even remember who Dick Cheney was.
Whatever happens, he's fading fast; becoming a liability, and the real power behind the throne is looking for a way to pull him down before he pulls down the whole Project 2025 plan.

(23,270 posts)And once again, no, we aren't going to wake up tomorrow morning and find out that this whole nightmare is behind us, but the vultures ARE circling.
Part of "not ending up on the wrong side of this" is not really knowing what the "right" side is, just because Trump is so volatile, and he's decaying mentally and physically on a daily basis.
When the first signs of decline became apparent, his goons attempted to brush it away by describing his "weaving"...his stream-of-consciousness, make it up as you go along narrative, but Trump's neither George Carlin nor Lenny Bruce. He was talking about ridiculous garbage in his first term, like windmills giving people cancer.
Now, the weaving goes nowhere. I've made reference to his forgetting where he is at various events, and I don't say it facetiously. He's disoriented. And so maybe he won't remember who was at Cheney's funeral six DAYS later.

(1,492 posts)...I don't know about Thune. When it comes to pettiness and lack of class, Trump is second to none. Regardless of how one feels about Cheney, this is the kind of stuff a Mafia boss does.
