(55,454 posts)The traditional term for an FBI Director is 10 years, established by a 1976 law intended to provide independence from political pressure. This is the statutory limit, though a Director can be allowed to serve longer if Congress passes legislation to extend their term.

(10,183 posts)He has done nothing positive for Trump and now all the garbage of flying all over the country on the taxpayer's dime to see his "girlfriend" and giving her extra perks is extra embarrassing and scandalous. It makes sense for Trump to want to replace him.

Patel has come under scrutiny for his stewardship of bureau resources, including his girlfriends security detail and use of a government jet, and for his squabbles with other Trump loyalists.
Trump and White House aides have confided to allies that the president is eyeing removing Patel and is considering top FBI official Andrew Bailey as the bureaus new director, according to the three people.
Patel is described as being on thin ice and his ouster appears closer than ever, with Bailey as the logical replacement, two of the sources with knowledge of the situation said, though Trump could change his mind in the weeks to come...
