Regarding the attack on the national guards and the FBI posture in general

The alleged attacker was an Afghan refugee who had worked with the US and CIA in Afghanistan. He was recently approved via the asylum process for permanent residency. So, let's classify this as a terrorist attack because he was probably upset how we have been treating his fellow Afghans who worked with us and then got abandoned. Of course, I do not know.

However, if that is the case, the answer is not to put more National Guard in DC. We already have counter-terrorism units. That is supposed to be the job of the FBI. Enter Kash Patel. He shows up at the press conference to make a speech how they will hunt down the suspects. Right after that, the deputy chief of the DC police says he is already in custody, no other suspects. Patel is so out of the loop that he did not even know.

On top of this, it has been widely reported that FBI agents had been reassigned to work with ICE. Up to one third of them. Guess what that does to the FBI's ability to effectively carry out counter terrorism? Instead of adding more national guards, Patel should be fired and FBI agents should be reassigned to do what they used to. Of course, the fact the Trump regime ran out or forcibly retired many of the senior FBI agents that had expertise in this area does not make it easy. We are screwed..

There was a directive released ordering a review of all who were given asylum.

He was looking at getting sent back to Afghanistan, a death sentence.

My guess, anyway.

This version of the FBI probably isn’t investigating, so much as intimidating. Lest embarrassing facts come out. This idea would have been unthinkable just a year ago. From now on it’s just too reasonable. Sigh.
