"Republicans Are Already Jockeying To Succeed Trump In 2028"

With over three years still left in his second term, some prominent Republicans are beginning to position themselves for a post-Trump world, building out their national profiles by staking out positions that are at times antithetical to Trump and traveling to early primary states to meet with donors.

Although Vice President JD Vance is widely viewed as the GOP front-runner to succeed the MAGA mantle, Trump’s political struggles have generated speculation about other potential candidates, including Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and several of Trump’s Cabinet members.

Meanwhile, Democrats’ big electoral wins this month bode well for their party’s performance in next year’s midterm elections, where recapturing the House or Senate would give them significant powers to rein in the administration and launch all sorts of investigations into allegations of corruption and self-dealing by Trump, his family, and many of his aides.

“We will be here for three and a quarter years,” Trump remarked at a White House dinner last week. “For the Trump, that’s like an eternity. For somebody else, that doesn’t sound long.”

There was an article, maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, about Don Jr making the case for how he is the ONLY LEGITIMATE HEIR to the MAGAt throne.

And the question, of course, is that being even less qualified than his father, would America actually be IGNORANT enough to elect him?

I'm guessing most people are like me. When Joe Biden took his oath of office, my first thought wasn't that Trump would be back in four years.

And ALL OF THIS reflects on the AMERICAN PEOPLE, AMERICAN VOTERS. If you look at the other potential names in that article (and you can add Kristi Noem to the list, because she's definitely "interested" ), voting for ANY ONE OF THEM would require the same basic level of ignorance that led these people to vote for Trump...TWICE.

My guess is that, if Trump actually leaves office in 2028, the chances of a Republican succeeding him are between slim and none.

And neither will Junior.

I don’t even think any of them will even be the nominee.

Not mentioned specifically in the article - Rubio, who, ironically probably has a better chance than any of the others mentioned, at least for a VP slot.

My guess is someone like Youngkin or Kemp will get some momentum from being “not crazy” and not a cult worshipper, and the others will rapidly lose ground for being unable to explain their obsequiousness during the Trump era.

Horrible eating habits, no exercise, raging all the time, inability to walk stairs, etc. I agree he has no chance at being elected president on his own.
