Flags were also lowered for Richard Nixon, who left office in disgrace, and they'll be lowered for Dubya. That's the protocol for a deceased potus or veep, whether the individual in question was deserving or not.

I try to think of it as a sign of respect for the office itself, not necessarily for the office holder. It helps cut down on the rage, which I know isn't good for my health.

Kirk brought with him a prepared screed that allowed him to direct the conversation where he wanted it to go. He employed every logical fallacy in the book, ignored inconvenient questions, passed off half-truths and outright lies as facts and left a trail of misinformation in his wake. Take a look at the online videos of what happened to Kirk when he tried to take his dog and pony show over to Cambridge, England where he met a group of students and professors who were well prepared for him. They basically ate his lunch and called him out for the fraud he was.

So, they want all this to go away. Why?

1. The shooter was granted asylum by none other than Donnie Poopy Pant's himself during his first admin. Like much of the Afghan withdrawal, it was already in motion when Biden took over.

2. As stated, the Nat Guard are not trained for this, and legally can't do shit except walk around as political props. That's well known and quite unpopular before this incident. It's not playing well even in Republican circles. And now this makes it even worse.

3. This short circuits the whole DEI / women don't belong in the military narrative. They cannot get past the fact that Donnie's regime deployed her and others knowing full well what their gender is. They can't pull the "she shouldn't have even been there / can't do the job" card because THEY put her there. But they also can't make her a martyr if she "shouldn't have been there in the first place." Sure, they could try, but with a dead woman? The backlash would be massive.

The unfortunate part is, the regime isn't dumb enough to attempt to make political hay from this. I want them to! I want them to go there! Please! Please! Please!!
