----> I self-censored my post because the OP was censored. Fair is fair.

(8,994 posts)Since "Fuck Chris Hodges" was allowed to stay, I figured everyone else should be treated equally. I let your post stay, and I'd let the OP stay, too.
All or none, I say.

But the F-bombs get to stay? how increasingly bizarre (and hypocritical!) this place is becoming...

(24,331 posts)Nobody who openly advocates for a strategy of electing Republicans--and that's exactly what he was doing--can claim to be a progressive with a straight face.
But thanks for the personal insult, anyway.

(10,533 posts)Chris Hedges I don't know about.
Capitalocracy
(4,307 posts)but that's a good point, David Swanson can't be called out like that according to the rules.
bluedigger
(17,438 posts)There is probably a practical limit to that rule for persons in the public arena; we don't want Newt joining just so we can't dis him after all.

(48,181 posts)Public figure are fair game, but your insults should not be sexist, homophobic or racist, and Democratic candidates for office are off-limits during election season, and probably at other times too, depending on your jury.
But you knew that, right?
p.s. I find the 'hated progressive of the week' bullshit divisive and obnoxious and stupid too.
Capitalocracy
(4,307 posts)Actually, that's not true. We're not allowed to advocate voting against them, or even specifically advocating not voting for them, but there are no rules against criticizing their policies. And those restrictions apply whether it's election season or not.

Did you go after those who have said "Fuck Obama"? Trust - it has been said here.

(27,787 posts)Perhaps you missed that. I hope a jury keeps your thread alive.
I also hope you will call on Chris to start "3rdPartyUnderground.com" ... he could lead the movement.

(62,325 posts)agreed that you can call out another DUer, not that I like it, in fact I objected at the time, but we were overruled. And we predicted this also. If everyone had agreed when it began, then this one would not be here now.
quinnox
(20,600 posts)because one is a duer and another isn't. But don't let a juvenile temper tantrum thread rant get to you, I find it funny myself.

(11,304 posts)feel because I had things block also. But these are their rules wheter we like it or not. I will continue to not hide anything unless the poster threatens another poster. Even if I don't agree with the person I will let it go. That is what free speech is.

(116,464 posts)criticism of Hedges has led some to go off the deep end.
He's not a Democrat. Democrats criticize non-Democrats (Republicans, third party) all the time.
He's advocating against Democrats.
People will criticize him. Deal with it.

(20,043 posts)you said that about another DU'er. Chris Hedges is a PUBLIC figure, TheWraith is not.
Moreover I cannot believe you got recs for doing that.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)I think it should be against the rules, it used to be. But once it was done and over the objections of many other DUers, this was bound to happen.

(2,431 posts)... the GOP could nominate a rubber chicken and it will have a shot at beating Obama. This is why many are wary of saying anything bad about the man.

(116,464 posts)He's a writer who posts commentary on other sites and appears in public stating his opinion. He is no different from Glenn Greenwald in that respect. When his commentaries are posted here, he is often criticized and called out for his distortions.
