WASHINGTON ‒ President Donald Trump says he will look into whether the United States carried out a second strike against a boat in the Caribbean that the administration says was smuggling drugs, as he defended his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth from an accusation that he ordered military officials to "kill them all" before the lethal strike.

A Washington Post report on Nov. 28 that cited anonymous sources said that Hegseth gave a directive to leave no survivors, which prompted the U.S. military to conduct a follow-on strike that killed two individuals to comply with the order.

Hegseth called the report "fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory," and Trump allies have responded by questioning the story's accuracy.

“I don't know anything about it," Trump told reporters on Nov. 30. "He said he did not say that, and I believe him, 100," Trump added. "He says he didn't do it."
