Person, woman, man, camera, tv

I've never heard any commentator point out a very obvious fact about the cognitive test that Trump "aced."

Those words were designed to be easily recalled. In no way would that have been a legitimate cognitive test.

The first three words "Person -> women -> man" are related and easily recalled in sequence. That would not happen in a legitimate test.

The last two words, "camera, tv" were recalled while STANDING IN FRONT OF A TV CAMERA.

Just a reminder that Trump cheats at everything, including dementia screening tests.

It took him two hours to complete it.

With a sledgehammer.

5. A screen, not a test

Mental status screenings such as the Mini or the MoCa ordinarily take maybe 10 minutes? A formal examination for declining cognition or the advent of dementia would be oh, 2 hours? or in some cases three or four. Trump is describing a screening, which is not by itself diagnostic.

But I suspect he like most people doesn’t understand the difference. I’m not sure mental decline, though present, is at the root of his behavior. My guess would be age, stress, and exhaustion play as big a role, along with a native personality disorder.

6. You don't seriously believe those were the words on the MOCA, do you?

Those are just words he made up on the spot in an interview, not ones he recalled from being screened for dementia.

11. No, those weren't words that would be on any actual screening test.

Maybe I should have been more clear. But he didn't make them up on the spot. Someone else created an easy to remember list that he could repeat as needed. Then he repeated the words when interviewed, was ready to easily repeat them, and then claim it was a real "test" he aced, thus proving he is a genius. Obviously there was no such test.

My point was that it was clearly fraudulent and no one in the media pointed out just how fraudulent it was.

9. He made up the test words on the spot by just looking around the room and naming objects he saw...

he was not recalling or reciting the ACTUAL test words. The media should know this and point it out, but they do not. Why?

12. I agree he wasn't recalling any actual test words.

But I don't think he was just making things up on the spot. The list of words was intentionally designed to be memorable. Someone else was responsible for that. The final two words involved something right in front of him, but the first three words were an easy primer. That's why I characterized it as cheating.

Those are the screening questions I want someone to ask him. It’s challenging for a person with dementia to recall on demand.

…because he couldn’t remember the actual words.

Which is really the whole point of that exercise in the first place.

to be something he could remember. There were no real test words to remember.
