Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMusk isn't a "visionary." He's a drug-abusing sociopathic narcissistic bouncing prancing delusional dipsh*t.
You've probably seen his "prediction" about Trump being followed by 2 terms of President JD Vance.
I know anything is possible, but I don't see it.
And Musk keeps perpetuating and image of himself as some kind of wise seer and sage, and that's total bullshit.
I know he bought 2024. I know Trump immediately thanked him for "being so good with election system computers."
I'm just not buying Musk's "12 years of Republican bliss" horseshit.

Why Americas new crypto regime makes other countries nervous
The U.S. is potentially providing a powerful vehicle for tax evasion and other illegal activity worldwide.

It doesnt have to be this way. Dollar-backed stablecoins cryptocurrencies convertible one to one with dollars are potentially the most important application of blockchain technology to date. This special class of cryptocurrency, which at present accounts for less than 10 percent of the $4 trillion crypto market, was the focus of the bill that is already law. To be fair, the act incorporated many good ideas, such as requiring that stablecoins be (almost) fully backed by safe, highly liquid assets, including Treasury bills and federally insured bank deposits.
Critics have pointed to the risks that, despite the precautions, there will still be runs on some stablecoins and that fraud will be rampant, particularly among the smaller players. These are serious concerns. The biggest one, however, which has thus far received only fleeting attention, is that the new law does too little to make stablecoin transactions as easy to audit as debit and credit card transactions are. Once out the door, stablecoins are tokens on a blockchain just like bitcoin and can change hands almost as anonymously as paper currency.
Yes, in principle, everything on the blockchain is public information, but crypto wallets can be held pseudonymously; you dont have to reveal who you really are. On top of that, one can hold scores of wallets, and dollar stablecoin wallets can be issued outside the U.S. by unregulated entities, in addition to being traded abroad on lightly regulated exchanges. Sure, government sleuths can often find clues that help them figure out the true owner of a crypto wallet. They will certainly bear the necessary cost in the case of a major terrorism incident. This is hardly feasible on a routine basis, however. If crypto was that easy to trace, its appeal might collapse.

(40,677 posts)He's been able to take on high risks that others couldn't simply because he has such a big buffer of cash to fall back on if things go seriously wrong (as they have repeatedly), and he's bought enough political influence to fend off oversight (particularly OSHA and EPA, who have now been pithed by Trmp) and even bought his way out from under scrutiny by shareholders.
"Move fast and break things" is how an artillery shell succeeds in its mission, but at the end of its trajectory it self-destructs. Musk is more likely to be sentenced to life in prison by at least one country if he doesn't do the same.

(451 posts)wealth, he believes that means he's the smartest person in the world. I will grant that in some domains he does have above average intelligence, but there are MANY on this planet who are a lot smarter than he is in those particular areas. And his emotional I.Q. is so low it's through the floor.
The problem for us and civil society, is there are a number of other morbidly rich who feel about themselves the same way as he does.
He's just the nuttiest of the bunch.

(6,171 posts)The hyper loop - Lets take the idea of a subway, but, make it so that only 4 people can ride it at a time. If a car breaks down, itll hold all the other cars up until it gets towed to the next point. Anything to not ride the subway, though, because subways are communist and are for minorities and poors. /s
The stupid cave rescue tube he wanted to build, and, was mad that the kids got rescued without him, so, he accused one of the rescuers of being a pedophile.
Space X - Lets take what NASA does and just do that. Cool. Except the main purpose is to get people on Mars, because, rich assholes like Musk want a spare planet after they trash this one.
Twitter - Was always bad, but, he somehow made it worse. Impressive. Now full of Nazis and people with internet addictions fighting with each other over the same things every day, 24/7/365.
The Tesla robots and taxis - You too can own what amounts to a slave from a third world country in your home, because, theyre all controlled by humans. Its AI!
Self-driving Teslas - They completely failed and used image recognition instead of better technologies like LIDAR.
Cyber Truck - Looks like a fucking dumpster combined with an N64 Starfox spaceship. Frequently seems to have technical problems, and/or takes the worst elements of sedans and cars trucks and amplifies them.
All my opinion, of course.

(114,318 posts)according to his superior vision has been a spectacular flow, and I'm not just talking about his urban tank, er Cyber Truck, I'm talking about most of his bright ideas for transporting people from one place to another at high speed. Either his concept is laughably clunky or it fails to take into consideration the effect of Newtonian physics on the human body or both.
The You Tube channel AdamSomething has a lot of videos about Musk's genius and they are hilarious.
Even his Starlink system is showing its hidden flaw, the satellites' orbits are degrading and they're starting to fall and burn up.

(114,318 posts)and it was great for Ukraine until the Russians bought their own gear in Dubai. The -problem is that the satellites aren't going to stay up long term in sufficient numbers for it all to work. As usual, it was only half done, he figurd out how to get them up there but forgot to figure out how to keep them up there and now the system is starting to fail.
