I listened to an NPR segment reporting on the flood of DEEP FAKE videos on YouTube and other social media platforms.
They say it is so good, it is very hard to tell.
We need laws about this!

(965 posts)According to an AI answer generated online. There is no algorithm sophisticated enough to sort out the real from the fake. So, I have a simpler, more personal ask. Could AI detect any image of Trump's ugly mug and replace it with an image of the Moon? 🌛🌕🌜

(7,834 posts)saying he agreed that trump has secured the border. It was a CNN interview with Anderson.
I believe it was a DEEP FAKE and DU people believed the video and called for him to be removed.

Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

we don't need our leaders saying anything positive about the criminal.

(53,297 posts)Many blasted the House minority leader's reaction to Trump pardoning a Democrat who was indicted on charges of bribery and acting as a foreign agent.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday praised President Donald Trumps decision to preemptively pardon Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), a conservative Democrat who was indicted on charges of bribery and acting as a foreign agent last year. I dont know why the president decided to do this. I think the outcome was exactly the right outcome, Jeffries said in an appearance on CNN.
Cuellar and his wife were indicted last May for allegedly taking $600,000 in exchange for influencing U.S. foreign policy for an Azerbaijani government-controlled oil company and backing legislative acts to support a Mexican bank.
In a post to his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that the indictment was a result of the Biden administration having weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, adding that Cuellar was targeted as he bravely spoke out against Open Borders.

Jeffries praise notably departs from his history of slamming Trumps toxic use of his pardoning power. Last month, Jeffries said Trump was completely and totally out of control with the power and cited the pardons for Jan. 6 rioters, ex-Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

This normalizes corruption, feeding the sentiment that both sides suck and so politics is pointless. A Dem party focused on rehabilitating its broken brand would be criticizing Trump and booting out Cuellar. Let the corrupt guys become corporate lobbyists - theyâre dragging our party down.

Alex, give me "Why do voters thinks 'both sides' are corrupt for 0."

Iâm kind of new to the Democrats, but I thought we were FOR respecting the legal process, and also that we were AGAINST political corruption. And that it was especially important to hold to these principles at this time.

But I guess thereâs some insider memo I didnât get that would set me straight?
What an embarrassment Hakeem Jeffries is. The charges against Cuellar were so "thin" that two of his assistants had already pleaded guilty and were set to testify against him. Jeffries has got to go.

It was a flood of bullshit. That's when I turned off video news and opinion permanently.
There's something about video that bypasses the human mind's bullshit detectors. That's how Trump has such a large audience, and it's not just the people who voted for him. The press could have shut him out, but they turned him into entertainment. The television news and opinion people need something to fill the void. ( That includes people like Rachel Maddow. Sorry. )
The sad thing is we already knew how that turns out, Ronald Reagan wasn't any different. I remember being at a public appearance of Reagan during his second term. He was a confused old man being pushed around by his handlers. When the lights came on his acting skills kicked in and he was able to fire off a few seconds for television. He quickly faded and was led away. The scary part of this was that none of that was mentioned on television. He was portrayed as the fearless leader. Television did not reflect reality.
I block all news and opinion videos here on DU. I don't even see the previews. I never watch television news or opinion. The television in our house isn't even set up to receive it.
It's noise, AI generated or not.
