That is for January, for my wife and myself.
Are the rest of you seeing this?
Seriously what the fuck?

Did everyone else see a similar increase?

However, if your income increased significantly in last few years, you get bumped into a higher Part B premium.

It went from $185 to $202.90, a 10% increase, a large increase, but for two people that would be from $370 total per month to $405.80 per month.

We are in a higher than basic category but not one that should result in that high an increase..
I took an accumulated retirement benefit that had to be taxed as income but it wasn't that much.
I'm going to need to look over our returns and check with the senior services people who helped us select the right plans a couple years ago-- Supplement; not Advantage, etc.

Thanks.

just remember that the the Part B amount to be charged in 2026 is based on income for 2024 and that the Part B charge would be the same for regular Medicare or Advantage (when the Advantage claim "zero plan premium" they mean after the Medicare Part B cost)

yeah it can get quite confusing

I just started on Medicare and had a hell of a time figuring out which supplement and PDP providers to go with.

I was absolutely not going to be pushed into an Advantage plan. And the "advisors" pushing that were a legion.

Perhaps it's irrational, but i've come to the conclusion that pushing people onto Medicare Advantage and then weakening it to absurdity is the current goal of those who would -- if they thought they could get away with it -- dismantle classic Medicare Part A and B.

only THEN will so many people understand just what those "freebies" truly cost us

the money wasted on "Advantage" SHOULD be shoring up just plain regular Medicare

Shop around and the "good news" is that we aren't limited by Monday, December 7. We can change it past that date.

All the same, I'm not too hopeful.

Personally as long as our government refuses to rationalize our so-called healthcare system, I want to use supplements, Part D, etc., that are well run and will last.

making is nobody deserves that type of salary when they are jacking up the price that much. I know I'm just one person, and his salary doesn't effect my charges that much.

We need a government run healthcare.

Income Related Medicare Adjustment Amount

If your Adjusted Gross Income in 2024 was high, then a Medicare cost bump is a likely result.

About a 10% increase, so yes it'll eat up some of my COLA.

The good news fpr me is that I'll have a zero premium for Part D instead of $50. If I get sick, any Rxs will be out of pocket, but at a preferred cost instead of full price. I still have limited out-of-pocket coverage if I get really sick.

I never met the deductible anyway, and this plan keeps me enrolled in Part D to prevent penalty accruing.

I think my Supplemental to A&B won't increase much according to insurer.

You would have had to report it on your income taxes. If not then call SSA to find out what happened to cause the increase.

Moving it from CalSTRS to another program so had that added to my AGI, and for just that year our combined income was quite high.
We are back to normal income for 2025 but will be paying as if we were earning twice as much.

Sigh.

Take care, everyone.

The income bracket for the $405.80 Medicare B premium is $274k to $342k. You mustve done something to get into that bracket, perhaps unknowingly with a retirement account.
