Like the days of fiberoptic cabling where folks laid cable in anticipation of being able to sell capacity in the future at a premium, only to never see the demand get that high. Empty lots and giant data centers will remain empty or become warehouses but never power gobbling data centers.

a full square mile + is being developed for AI in what was prime farmland, near the corner of SR.582 and I-75 in Ohio. Another site is being considered about 4 miles away.

This doesn't bode well.
