time. I would ad that "identity" is also immaturity and narcissism. Nevertheless, she nails it and provides a path to reach some of them:

I'm inclined to have compassion for a lot of people but it's tough having compassion for those who lack compassion themselves for anyone but Donald Trump and his Flying Monkey Brigade. Our country is being destroyed from within because of this mindless idolatry. People's lives and families are being uprooted. Where's the compassion for that or any of the other horrors going on?
Come to think of it, I don't want the details. I'm still angry as hell and suspect I'll remain angry for a very long time.

(138 posts)In every act, however trivial, the individual must by some ritual associate himself with the congregation, the tribe, the party, etcetera. His joys and sorrows, his pride and condence must spring from the fortunes and capacities of the group rather than from hisindividual prospects and abilities. Above all, he must never feel alone. Though stranded on a desert island, he must still feel that heis under the eyes of the group. To be cast out from the group should be equivalent to being cut off from life.
