For the umpteenth time, Gavin Newsom is a Californian...And, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that...

But, how will being a Californian play in places like Iowa or Georgia? I'll tell you how it's going to play. Like gangbusters, that's how. Why? Because, instead of waiting around for someone else to DO SOMETHING, Gavin Newsom has a long track record of actually getting it done.

Whether it's from a Republican or a Democrat, when we hear arguments that amount to bull shit, we (again, whether we're a Republican or a Democrat) should know to handle it. Why? Because, we've been here before and the words could just as easily have been...

I gotta ask you a question. I do not believe in, I can’t trust Newsom. I have read about him and he’s not, he’s not…he’s an evil Californian. No?

No, ma’am. No, ma’am. He’s a decent family man, a citizen, that I just happen to have disagreements with.

1. That McCain picture is why Colin Powell endorsed Obama

Powell's response would have been "so what if he was?" and he pointed out to Muslim soldiers that died for the US in the Iraq & Afghanistan wars.

As far as Gavin Newsome, when it comes to the top 3 candidates in the poll I favor AOC but I like California and think they were ahead of the nation when it comes to many issues.

Newsom went to a restaurant during covid......

... that's what they'll say. That was and will be their talking point.

I mean, there's no evidence of Newsom murdering people or demolishing federal property, or inciting an insurrection, or election interference, or pardoning criminals, or making money off his businesses while president, or kissing Putin's ass, or terrorizing people living in the USA, or openly bribing people, or being best friends with known pedophiles, or of being openly racist, or of giving his friends/family government jobs, or taking boxes of classified documents from the whitehouse and storing them in a bathroom at his club, or hiring a civilian billionaire to cut jobs, or of using the military and ICE as his personal gestapo, or of threatening to take over other countries to steal their natural resources, or taking Saudi money for favors, or threatening other state and city officials if they openly speak out against him, or burying his wife on his golf course, or threatening media companies and comedians and talk show hosts, or forcing museums to remove exhibits he doesn't like, or being a felon, rapist, fraud...... etc. Etc.

But he did go to a fancy restaurant during covid.... so.....

(Looking back that was a very poignant statement by McCain. It was a perfect reply at the time but now it really stands out)

8. It ALL comes down to the price of a bag of Doritos, and Trump hasn't brought the price down
Mon Dec 8, 2025, 09:51 PM

as he falsely promised to do "on day one"!

(and everything you brought up are excellent supporting points,
for those of us who pay attention to what is going on,
beyond the cost of a bag of Doritos--- BUT---
for a lot of people who go to the grocery store,
it all boils down to THAT--- and they are losing that argument at the cash register!)

If they are actually going to send Trump "out on the road"
to make his false claims about prices and inflation---
I look forward to THAT!

Two very important factors in today's world of politics. Gavin is a savvy politician as well. He found the perfect way to fight back against Trump inside social media as well as actively fighting back with Prop 50 and litigation against the illegal National Guard deployments.

I was one of those who thought Gavin's association with California might be too much of a negative for him to get elected in 2028, but I've completely changed my mind in these last few months. Dems have to stop worrying about what the "other side" thinks. We need to go on the offensive unapologetically, which Gavin does. People naturally follow a leader, which Gavin Newsom is.

California and Newsom has shown he’s the guy to do it. He’s been coming out swinging and that’s what those manosphere types notice.

He has earned his place at the top and he only gets more and more impressive.

It's more about things like race and gender.

Newsom does well with young males . The far right types aren't voting for any Democrat.

But the young males that live on social media and don't vote on issues like him becsuse he is what they hope to be . With Harris they were resentful becsuse they saw her as taking what is theirs.

7. California has the highest rate of outbound migration in the US.

Primarily due to affordability issues.

Newsom is getting a lot of attention right now for trolling Donald. Donald will probably not be on the ballot in ‘28.

Affordability will likely be a huge issue. I think Newsom will struggle with it. It’s not something he’s gonna be able to “troll” his way out of.

10. Whomever the Republicans nominate in 28 will be tied to Trump by the neck,
Mon Dec 8, 2025, 10:00 PM

or we will have failed at our job---
and Trump not being on the ballot in 28 is a weakness for the GQP, not a strength...

As for the 'affordability' issues in California, the governor of the state
is 'sailing against the wind' in his power on that issue,
compared to the power of national GQP policies working against him...

Democrats, and I daresay independents who decide every national election,
want a FIGHTER against Trump and GQP Trump maggot policies,
and I think that sentiment will overrule any wonky GQP counter-arguments about
the 'affordability of California'...

We’ll probably have several high profile candidates from Midwestern and rust-belt states. Gavin’s gonna have to answer questions the cost of living in California and what he’s done about it. I think it’ll be interesting.

social media "influencers" came to California and when they stopped making much on social media they had to leave. And then they started making videos saying California sucks.

Newsom is a top choice for a reason. He's one of the few Democrats actually fighting back.

And California is a great state that supports Democratic values. Don't shy away from that.

Nobody wants $5 California gas or million dollar homes for 1000 square feet. I think this and it sounds like I’m the people you are referring to, that Gavin will be very unpopular in many areas. California is way over budget and has crazy high taxes. He attacks Trump, but Trump is out for the next election.

I’m still hoping we get new blood in the elections without the baggage of California or Chicago politics. I would like to see a heavy business influence its the VP level like Cuban.

If people actually voted on issues Biden would easily have gotten support for re-election .
