https://www.notus.org/senate/john-fetterman-2028-senate-reelectionProgressives are already plotting a primary challenge to Sen. John Fetterman when hes up for reelection in 2028. But whether Fettermans around to be primaried at all is another question.
The freshman senator seems to be leaving all doors open, insiders told NOTUS: reelection, retirement and even a long-shot run for president. Some think hes likely to leave the Senate, which they say he doesnt seem to enjoy much.
I dont think hes running, one former Fetterman staffer told NOTUS. He didnt like the job, he missed home, and now is a pariah within the party. I think he wants no part of being in D.C.
When NOTUS asked Fetterman whether hell run for reelection, he replied: Its 2025.
When NOTUS asked if hed be interested in running for president, Fetterman replied: Its 2025.

(9,446 posts)Such a disappointment. I suspect the stroke really did a number on him. I have sympathy for that, but he can't do it, go home.
He's clearly a mess mentally, it will help everyone if he steps aside.

(7,655 posts)I will cut him some slack considering his major health issues and appreciate his contribution when he ran. However he has been a mixed bag and I dont think he is really in touch with where Dems are now.
I hope he bows out and wish him the best

(54,497 posts)He is heroic for plodding through his health issues, maybe they're affecting his mood. I doubt he'll win a primary. He's an unknown entity and voters won't support that.

(1,229 posts)and then his health issues complicated that even further. It may be better for everyone if he simply resigned. Would his successor be appointed, or would there be a special election?
