Insiders think Fetterman wont run in 2028, doesnt enjoy the job

https://www.notus.org/senate/john-fetterman-2028-senate-reelection

Progressives are already plotting a primary challenge to Sen. John Fetterman when he’s up for reelection in 2028. But whether Fetterman’s around to be primaried at all is another question.

The freshman senator seems to be leaving all doors open, insiders told NOTUS: reelection, retirement and even a long-shot run for president. Some think he’s likely to leave the Senate, which they say he doesn’t seem to enjoy much.

“I don’t think he’s running,” one former Fetterman staffer told NOTUS. “He didn’t like the job, he missed home, and now is a pariah within the party. I think he wants no part of being in D.C.”

When NOTUS asked Fetterman whether he’ll run for reelection, he replied: “It’s 2025.”

When NOTUS asked if he’d be interested in running for president, Fetterman replied: “It’s 2025.”

Such a disappointment. I suspect the stroke really did a number on him. I have sympathy for that, but he can't do it, go home.

But ya, it will be nice not to have an ugly primary. I wish him happiness in his retirement.

I will cut him some slack considering his major health issues and appreciate his contribution when he ran. However he has been a mixed bag and I don’t think he is really in touch with where Dems are now.

I hope he bows out and wish him the best

He is heroic for plodding through his health issues, maybe they're affecting his mood. I doubt he'll win a primary. He's an unknown entity and voters won't support that.

and then his health issues complicated that even further. It may be better for everyone if he simply resigned. Would his successor be appointed, or would there be a special election?
