The incredible story of Dorie Miller, a Mess Attendant in the U.S. Navy, who defied racial barriers

On Dec 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Dorie Miller was an American who demonstrated unbelievable bravery & courage that day. Miller was the first African American awarded the Navy Cross for shooting down at least three Japanese planes and perhaps more aboard the USS West Virginia.

Despite facing immense segregation, Miller courageously took charge of an anti-aircraft gun, shooting down several enemy planes with no formal training. His heroism not only symbolizes African American courage but also ignited a movement towards desegregation in the military.
