In a new interview published Tuesday with the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk raged over people not born in America having influence in American elections, delivering his critique with frequent pauses, filler words and throat clearings.
Musk appeared on The Katie Miller Podcast, hosted by the wife of President Donald Trumps top aide, Stephen Miller, where the two discussed immigration trends. While on the topic, Musk suggested that immigrants were becoming increasingly influential in election results, and warned that it could soon turn the United States into a communist hell.

(40,751 posts)For him to complain about 'foreigners' having 'influence' in American politics is hypocrisy of the rankest sort. He bought his own influence outright, by choosing the most corrupt faction he knew was willing to sell out for big $$$$$$.
Oh, and it's worth looking up *how* he 'became' an American citizen. It wasn't the um, usual legal way.
You are correct though -- Afrikaners are of Dutch descent.

(20,469 posts)It's a common situation. I am now an American, and so is Musk. Like Musk, I was an English South African, not an Afrikaner.
Unlike him, however, I'm not a putz.

(571 posts)...if they weren't born here, but if you are a billionaire born anywhere in the world your voice should be allowed to be elevated as high as the pile of cash you can spend to influence our elections? Got it.
Sadly, the SCOTUS agrees with you Elon, but you should be very careful about making the villagers mad.
Also, the concept of democracy is that the people living in a society should get to determine what laws, rules, framework, etc., they live under. If you are foreign-born but live here and become eligible to vote then why should you not get to participate in the democracy that determines the life you are allowed to live?
Rule of the few over the many is called something completely different there Littler Rocket Man.
