Elizabeth Warren's Bluesky post today

Republicans gave 2 billion in tax breaks to the top 1% in 2027.

With that money, we could have extended ACA tax credits for over 20 million people next year and still have 0 billion left over.

I don't know about the rest of ya, but I'm looking at insurance for next year and staring down premiums well over $1000/mo for a PPO.

Sure, $125/mo would be helpful, but I could easily get behind the argument that we need to do a LOT more about these spiraling costs than just giving $125/mo to 20M people.

We need a PUBLIC OPTION, with low overhead, akin to what we pay in admin costs for Medicare, and no PROFIT for anyone but the people actually providing the services! If the government plan puts any or even all health insurance providers out of business, TOO FUCKING BAD.

132 billion divided by 20 million by 12 months is 550 a month.

But even a public option would need work to provide the bigger savings we need. We don't allow the government to negotiate drug prices which is one of the biggest drivers in insurance costs going up. It also doesn't address the increased utilization we've seen since 2021.

we would have 100 billion left over, which means we would have spent only $32 billion.
$32 B divided by 20M and then by 12 - I get $133.33

I did it twice, because it didn't match your figures, but when I looked at the numbers again, I realized that 16 is a power of two, whereas 12 is divisible by three, so the string of 3's was reasonable and to be expected. And a difference of $8.33 a month is a drop in the bucket anyway

The Preamble to the Constitution is what we today call a Mission Statement. It provides the guidelines for what legislation and Executive Orders should be measured against. It should also be a constraint on Supreme. Court decisions. America has lost its way and is wandering endlessly and must get back on track. https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/preamble/
