"We inherited a mess..."

How many Trump sycophants have you heard say those words? Usually it is in front of the press and they are never questioned about it?

Seems that I recall that Joe Biden inherited more of a "mess" than did Donald Trump? We were just coming out of the worst of the COVID and Joe Biden was able to get the vaccine, created by Trump's administration, out to millions and millions of Americans. The stock market had started to recover. It almost crashed. People were working from their homes and Biden and the Democrats mostly, were able to pass a lot of legislation. Joe Biden was not left with the best of two worlds.

But there was a price for trying to get the economy back on track, with cash subsidies to individuals and small businesses. It is called inflation. It is still with us to a nagging degree even today.

But, it just seems wrong to talk about "the mess they inherited" when they expect people to forget what Joe Biden inherited.

Obviously, a lot of people did "forget". They voted for Trump again in 2024.

One of the pitfalls of democracy, I suppose?

Every time I hear one of those charlatans say that. I'm sure that is their #1 talking point given to them.

Make sure everybody's coordinated on what they're supposed to say! Especially when they have to talk to the media!

The Repuke Party of Nazis and Fascists have been utilizing the "Two Santas Strategey" for decades since the 70s.
Below is an account of this strategy outlined in 2021*, but it could be applicable to any time period of the last 50 years, or at least since Reagan:

First, the Two Santas strategy dictates, when Republicans control the White House they must spend money like a drunken Santa and cut taxes to run up the U.S. debt as far and as fast as possible.

This produces three results: it stimulates the economy thus making people think that the GOP can produce a good economy; it raises the debt dramatically; and it makes people think that Republicans are the “tax-cut Santa Clauses.”

Second, when a Democrat is in the White House, Republicans must scream about the national debt as loudly and frantically as possible, freaking out about how “our children will have to pay for it!” and “we have to cut spending to solve the crisis!” Shut down the government, crash the stock market, and damage US credibility around the world if necessary to stop Democrats from spending money.

This will force the Democrats in power to cut their own social safety net programs and even Social Security, thus shooting their welfare-of-the-American-people Santa Claus right in the face.

And, sure enough, here we are now with a Democrat in the White House. Following their Two Santas strategy, Republicans are again squealing about the national debt and refusing to raise the debt ceiling, imperiling Biden’s economic recovery as well as his Build Back Better plans.

And, once again, the media is covering it as a “Biden Crisis!” rather than what it really is: a cynical political and media strategy devised by Republicans in the 1970s, fine-tuned in the 1980s and 1990s, and rolled out every time a Democrat is in the White House.”

This was written in 2021, but it could’ve been written now. Or at any point since the 70s dems have taken over. It happens every time.

*Attributes to an anonymous Reddit poster who outlined this perfectly. Many thanks, whoever you are.

It comes down to a matter of bandwidth: they have stadium sound systems, we have two tin cans and a string. Which messaging system reaches more people?

partially built for them by Faux news and partially by the propaganda bots on line. Happy to believe the other guy is the cause of all things not in their favor. Also so self absorbed and uninformed they could not see the bigger picture outside there small little neighborhood. Never compared economy post covid to that of other countries compared to us, no awareness of that the economy got so much better than where it started. Probably never met people outside of their circle. If they are in certain religions it is discouraged to associate with anyone outside of their church. Very low information thinkers. Dangle something sparkly in front of them or rage bait and they will believe anything.
