13. The scheme was to immediately tear down the East Wing for these reasons:

1. It would be a fait accompli (a done deal).

2. The start of the project (demolition) would be stalled for months, if not years, in the courts if it didn't happen right away in secrecy. Trump wanted that ballroom built before he died in office.

3. With the elimination of the East Wing, now Trump's saying, "Well, now, we have to build the ballroom. Can't leave the WH looking like THIS."
