As someone who suffers from a medical condition called "MICROPENIS"

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by SYFROYH (a host of the General Discussion forum).

i have to say that throwing around barbs involving penis size and equating them to shortcomings, etc. is incredibly sexist and bigoted.

just because i have a medical condition that affects the size of my penis (think thumbnub), in no way means that men and men like me aren't whole, valid people.

we just have INCREDIBLY small weiners.

so deep six the penis talk.

'k?

Most eight- to fourteen-year-old boys referred for micropenis do not have the micropenis condition. Such concerns are usually explained by one of the following:

1. a penis concealed in suprapubic fat (extra fat around the mons pubis).
2. a large body and frame for which a prepubertal penis simply appears too small.
3. delayed puberty with every reason to expect good future growth.

Fri Dec 28, 2012, 05:30 PM
Dec 2012

Unless he states the sizes, shows a picture, or you are intimately aware of his size?

The answer is you don't. You, and others who make the small penis references are just making a slimy attack on men because you don't like what they buy with their money.

If men started saying the same type of vile shit about women and the sizes of the breasts, or their sexual capability, or accuse women of being inadequate because they chose some sort of plastic surgery, then the outrage would be all over Meta, and there would be calls for PPR'ing anyone who made those comments.

Just shows there is a double standard here. Shit can be said about men all the time, and those spreading the shit don't get PPR'd.

And you're damned right I don't like what they buy with their money, they've turned this country into both a war zone and a police state. Every damned first word country in the world has far less gun violence that we do and it's because of this sickening gun culture that's being perpetuated in this country. So talking about them compensating for one thing or another is about as mild an insult as I could possibly do, they deserve far, far worse.

And I'm really perplexed as to your talk of a double standard. There are plenty of women who use guns as compensation as well. And you are aware that I'm a man, right?

It makes no difference, since it's obvious some men with your mindset hate other men for the choices they make. Male or Female, the hate is still there for men. "They deserve far, far worse." Wow.

And if you really are a man, why don't you post it in your profile?

So I thought you were accusing men of compensating about their penis sizes by buying guns. What does that have to do with women? What are you accusing the woman of compensating for? Are these women evil too?

Penis Scientist Rush Limbaugh Blames Small Penis Size on Feminazis

According to penis scientist Rush Limbaugh (his source: CBS Philadelphia, which cites this unsourced item in a ChaCha.com slideshow), the average penis size is 10 percent smaller than it was in 1950. The "Italian scientists" blame air pollution, but Rush has an alternate theory: "I don't buy this. I think it's feminism... Has to be the feminazis. I mean, the chickification, everything else." The joke you are thinking about making, about Rush Limbaugh's penis size: literally everyone in the world is thinking of making that joke. It's not a good joke. Don't make it. Just let the beauty of "has to be the feminazis" hang in the air.

I used to use the penis reference around the topic of big SUVs but finally realized it made me look petty and small.

We are better than that, or we should be.

... I seldom refer to peni.. or testicles, for that matter, as actual body parts.

If someone has "balls" it has nothing to do with actual testicles. Example: Elizabeth Warren anything but masculine, but she's got balls....serious balls.

Same with penises. Actual penis size has nothing to do with masculinity or toughness or anything else, but penis references are a handy (forgive me) tool useful in measuring boldness. The term "swinging dick" could apply to datasuspect or anybody else. Calling someone a big swinging dick is a term of respect.

I hope Elizabeth Warren turns out to be a swinging dick.

I don't get it. Why bring up something personal to everyone, if you are so very sensitive about it? We all have personal things that are less than perfect. Are we going to post them publicly? Not me!!

People talk about everything - short people, skinny people, tall people, fat people, etc. If every time someone opens his/her mouth, people started flipping out and losing it, we'd have a nation of people going nuts in protest.

Are "fat chick" jokes okay, provided they're not about any obese DU'er specifically?

I have found that what the poster has done is the most effective way to encourage civility.

The R word was in common usage here until some posters with loved ones with developmental disabilities pointed out how hurtful it was. When the community began to understand this, we changed for the better.

The above paragraph represents "benefit of the doubt" or "assume good faith". The OP has stated that his condition makes insults and jokes about small penises personally hurtful. How we react to that knowledge is our choice. We can either dial back the sexist insults, or we can cling to our insulting and hurtful stereotypes.

I think some of the posters upthread complaining about TMI, are doing so to protect their ability to insult people.

Fri Dec 28, 2012, 04:17 PM

Thing is, every man out there is either insecure about his junk or has been but gotten over it. It's a natural fear, especially as its taken as a sign of virility and manhood. Porn hasn't helped since men are deliberately cast for large sizes.

Most women prefer girth to length but would much rather whatever the penis is attached to not be an asshole.

There are a lot of insecure men out there and they do compensate in counter-productive ways. Not every gun owner is insecure but when they make the gun into more than a tool but a lifestyle, they are obviously compensating for some sort of perceived defect, penis or otherwise. Confident men and women don't get deadly weapons to impress people, only to serve the necessary purpose. Likewise, some men but big trucks for justifiable needs, others because their pride is so fragile being in a compact would kill them. Such is life.

I've seen pics of micropenis and had no prior idea it could be so bad. You do have my sympathies.

"Confident men and women don't get deadly weapons to impress people, only to serve the necessary purpose. Likewise, some men but big trucks for justifiable needs, others because their pride is so fragile being in a compact would kill them."

There has been a consistent use of 'penis compensator' for ANY reference in favor of gun ownership, particularly for drive-by's in the Gungeon forum. Perhaps you have not seen them. Ok. But it is there, since DU2. No consideration of a 'necessary purpose' is allowed, and ALL possession is assumed to be 'to impress people'. I own some of the guns commonly linked to this idea, but I don't 'show them off' to people. They stay in the safe unless I am using them, and they do get USED. Conversely, I only point guns at things I want to destroy. I do not point my penis at anything I want to destroy. Sex isn't about destruction. The association is flawed.

I own a very large, lifted truck. Someone seeing me driving it... well, I was going to say 'might' but I should rephrase 'have on many occasions' made the compensation link accusation. Problem is, my daily driver is a tiny econobox that gets 38mpg, and I am quite proud of it. I use the truck for things that require serious truckage. I don't drive it to work or the drive-through to impress people.

The automatic link to penis size/capability is just another form of prejudice/profiling. And it's about as accurate as profiling can be expected to be. (Not very.)

low. People throw that out there so off handedly. Yet, it is almost always jarring to me. I don't think it has anything to do with how men act. It might, but I haven't seen the evidence, nor do I want to ha ha. Any way, I am without actually taking measurements going to go out on a limb and say that gun owners and non gun owners have a wide range of penis sizes and they probably average out to be pretty similar.

Micropenis is an unusually small penis. A common criterion is a dorsal (measured on top) erect penile length of at least 2.5 standard deviations smaller than the mean human penis size,[1] or smaller than about 7cm (3 inches) for an adult when compared to an average erection of 12.5cm (5 inches).[2] The condition is usually recognized shortly after birth. The term is most often used medically when the rest of the penis, scrotum, and perineum are without ambiguity, such as hypospadias. Micropenis occurs in about 0.6% of males.[2]

there's a Guinness Book of World Records special to be made...

Mr. Big Jonah Falcon was born with a blessing in, er, disguise. Until it took over his life

When Jonah Falcon was in fifth grade, his class was allowed to use the school swimming pool. Like many ten-year-olds, the boy was modest and decided to change into his swimsuit in a bathroom stall. Locker-room noises ricocheted outside as Jonah dropped his pants. Then, silence. At first, he wondered if everyone had run away. He looked up and saw fingers wrapped over the top of his stall. Then more fingers. And eyes. His classmates, as many as could wedge themselves around the perimeter of the stall, had hoisted themselves up to peer at what Jonah had exposed.

Jonah did not know it was unusual for a ten-year-old boy to have an eight-inch penis. He was unaware that his organ was already longer, thicker and heavier than any owned by his classmates' fathers. All he knew was that the silence and the staring boys made him want to burst out of the stall and run away. But Jonah didn't run away or close his eyes. Pinned inside the toilet stall, pants scrunched around his ankles, he saw a new expression in the eyes of the boys. They looked, Jonah thought, to be in the presence of God.

The average adult penis, according to the Kinsey Institute, measures just under six inches when erect. Most men -- about eighty-seven percent -- are between five and seven inches. Dr. Alfred Kinsey found that the largest reported penis was a bit more than nine inches erect.

Jonah Falcon's penis is 9.5 inches flaccid, 13.5 inches erect. Tense your forearm. Now wrap your hand around the middle of the muscle. That is the girth of Falcon's erection. Those who have witnessed it describe it as "grotesque," "gorgeous," "hideous" and "stunning." Falcon, who stands five foot nine, thinks his penis is perfectly formed, with a fifteen-degree downward curvature at the six-inch mark and absent the blotching, lumpiness and sudden bends that mark some oversize sex organs. A penis this size functions, physiologically, like any other, according to urologists, a claim substantiated by Falcon. His balls are proportionately huge, each the size of a grade-A jumbo egg. When erect, Falcon's penis generates enough heat to warm hands -- campfire style -- from a distance of six inches.

The OP posted a serious message about his condition and how he finds the "compensating" comments to be offensive. I appreciate him educating us about it.

Why is it so hard for some of you to just accept him without judgment?

Some of the responses in this thread are disrespectful and insensitive. Empathy FAIL.

The joke about penis size and either cars or guns is such a cliche that you weren't being addressed individually, but I'm sure it would be a very difficult thing to have a medical condition that people made fun of. It must have been really difficult for you to post this, and I wish you lots and lots of luck on your healing journey.
