The shocking death of Rob and Michelle Reiner reminds of senseless death of Phil Hartman in 1998

Both such tragic family (apparently) turmoil.

1. The shock and horror of knowing your son intends to murder you and your wife

(his mother) before you die can't be explained.

That is, if in fact it was his son.

2. Probably was not the first time the son had been violent.

3. Totally agreed. Rarely is it an isolated incident.

The perpetrator just waits for a better opportunity to finish his plan.

Multiple stab wounds.

It is a personal murder, full of rage and anger.

Dad must have said no and turned off the money spigot?

If the knife was from the kitchen, could have been a spur of the moment
murder, but years in the making.

What a terrible realization that must have been. And now the siblings and family and friends have to deal with this horror for the rest of their lives. Not fair.

When I heard the news last night. Heartbreaking.

The Reiner family not only has to bury their father and mother, but also deal with the trial of their brother and all the emotional aftermath. My heart goes out to all of them.

Far beyond the teenaged impulsive rage you usually see when a man kills his parents. If he did it, I'm betting on mental illness.

so, not really middle aged.

But, we'll likely find out what was going on. I've seen reports that he's an addict and that he's schizophrenic...who knows what happened or what's true at this point, but he is 32 years old.

12. And the Phil fallout goes on: Andy DICK who allegedly provided the drug to Phil's wife just had

an overdose episode on the street and checked in (again) to a rehab.
