WASHINGTON Northwest Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is criticizing President Donald Trump after he posted about the deaths of actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, calling the incident a result of what he referred to as Trump Derangement Syndrome.
......
The comments drew criticism from Greene later Monday morning, who said on her Congressional X page that the focus should remain on the family and the ongoing investigation.
.....
"Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak, Greene wrote. This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies. Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. Its incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder."

So now our courageous media will at long last publicly state that Trump is NOT FIT FOR OFFICE.
RIGHT?

(77,564 posts)whether she was also holding Dear Leader responsible for the polarization/incitement/violence and she didn't even mention Dear Leader in her response, saying that "families" needed to take the prime role to diffuse things and "everybody" taking responsibility.
*** I use "Mrs" for her and all other Wingnut women because "Ms" is not for their anti-empowerment of women.

(2,174 posts)a few items of niceness by MTG does not make up for her years of aiding Trump to the place where he can do this kind of vulgar spewing of shit out of his mouth.........Same with Liz Cheney and others.......
Every day, they worked for nearly TEN YEARS creating and endorsing this Frankenstein's Monster, and now they can't control him, no matter what they do............yet 99.9% of them are still behind him 100%

(17,427 posts)but she strikes me as having come back to Earth1. She seems less conspiratorial now. Maybe it was meeting with the Epstein survivors or her own experiences with the impact of healthcare costs on her own family or getting those death threats from the maga cultists or just the discrimination she and other women face from thetr GOP male colleagues in congress. but she apears not to be the same person she was.
I'll differentiate what I'll call her improved "human-ness" from some of the rw policies she might still support.

(7,757 posts)MTGs post is refreshing from someone on the right. Disconnecting from Trump is a prerequisite for such change, which tragic in itself, given his status as POTUS. I hope she experiences true transformation long term.

(24,792 posts)showed true outrage in her comments about trump's post. I do believe that professional sanewashers like her get "courage" when magas and other RW cult members speak out. Suddenly they find their voices. CNN takes its cues from the rightwing and has for decades. A recent example is their echoing of maga during the Kirk murder. They were all aboard the Dems to blame narrative but had nothing to back it up.

(257 posts)There once was a statesman who typed,
While empathy quietly wiped.
At grief Trump took aim,
For clicks and for fame,
And called it a syndrome he hyped.
A lawmaker rose with a sigh,
Said, Must mourning now toe party lines?
When blood still is warm,
And hearts are half-torn,
Is this when we monetize crime?
The press beat their drums with delight:
At last! Hes unfit! This is it!
They polished their takes,
Ignored human stakes,
And feasted on moralistic spite.
The Reiner family lay broken in shards,
But grief made for terrible cards.
Too solemn to trend,
Too human to bend
To pundits in need of new yards.
So Swift would propose, with a grin,
A cure for our national sin:
Replace every tear
With a sponsors veneer
And auction compassion to win.
Let sorrow be parsed on the air,
By panels exquisitely fair,
Wholl argue till dawn
If death helps or harms
The optics of power and prayer.
And should we ask softly, Is this
A man who should govern the midst?
The answer rings true,
But not for the view
That rage is a virtue weve missed.

(22,489 posts)She seems to be trying hard to rehabilitate her image these days. Everything she's doing is giving "Forget about all that rudeness and hatefuless, and look what a nice person I actually am! 🥰"
It'll be interesting to see what happens once she's out of office. I would not be at all surprised to see her doing even more interviews, public appearances, speaking engagements, etc.

(671 posts)was loved by both the left AND the right. The right knows he's a liberal activist, but his and his father's work transcended the left/right political dichotomy and have become part of American culture, so they just don't care that much about his politics.
Because of that, many if not most of those on the right are saddened by this tragedy just as much we on the left are.
