What do you expect to change if Democrats win back the Congress and the White House in 2028?

What will be different at the DOJ?

Will we return to "normal order"?

Will we try to put this "national nightmare" behind us and move forward?

What are your expectations?

instead of funneling more wealth to the upper class. If I could have that in leu of no one from the Trump administration going to jail, I would take the trade.

Time for slaps on the wrist. Justice is broken because we can't undo the Trump pardons. The worst of the non-violent will remain on the street.

Without court expansion to neutralize the current MAGA majority, Gridlock and politics-as-usual will continue, and the damage of the Trump era will not be repaired.

Once the filibuster dies and the court is expanded, all things are possible.

Especially lobbies from other nations. If a nation has things Americans don’t such as free college, universal healthcare…

Then we do NOT help with a single thing until Americans have the SAME!

Period. End.

But it won’t happen. Democrats will fail.

But it won’t happen. Democrats will fail.

How do you get through life with an attitude like that? Seriously.

I never entertain the idea of failure. Ever. I usually succeed in just about everything I take on.

If you don't have belief in yourself or the organizations with which you align yourself, what are you even doing there?

which of course implies that everyone else is not a “realist”.

Only you, yes, only you can perceive the truth. Reality. You’re the sole courageous, brave individual who can face the dastardly truth.

Who does that sound like?

Answer: The “Only I can fix it” guy.

Of course, neither you or anyone else can agree on what reality is, so that defense is circling the drain.

The danger of posting this kind of hopelessness is that in plays right into Republican strategy.

Whose side are you on?

get rid of electronic voting and go to paper ballots.

no ballroom. Restore the East Wing.

Go through every single thing trump has done and negate it or turn it around.

trump's name off everything.

get rid of all the gold crap in the WH immediately, within 20" of the election being called. Especially his dumbass plaques about the other presidents.

get the resolute desk back.

get rid of all trump appointees, even if it calls for tracking their performance and finding ways to get them out of the job.

track and monitor all J6 rioters who were pardoned for new violations to send them back to the courts and possible prison sentences.

No one is going to be held accountable for anything, as always. There will be some bones and scraps but no one is going to propose the legislation we really need, let alone pass it. Foreign policy will continue to be imperialist garbage. Capitalists will continue to hoard wealth. Workers will continue to be exploited.

This whole system needs to go. Maybe in a hundred years, people will finally figure it out.

I would absolutely love to go on and on about how the new Dem majority will go scorched earth on the thieves, pedos, liars, cheats and chuds on the other side. But lets be real. They won't. It'll be all reflect and repair as always. Hours and hours of meaningless speeches doing nothing. Move forward to heal the nation without any sort of retribution. No fucking consequences.

And the rich assholes will walk. Punishment isn't in the party nature, unfortunately. For a number of reasons I suspect.

I'll leave it there. TOS and community standards and all.

For the record, I want so badly to be wrong. I want the entirety of DU to tell me how much of a moron I am, to have not had faith, not believed. How dare I. I want to be wrong.

I wish I wasn't so pessimistic, but the truth is, unless we have a huge majority and all the Democrats pull together (which they won't), I don't see how we'll restore anything in the country to even the rather pitiful levels we had before Trump.

And I know. Support the Democrats at all costs, but come on. You are all as aware, or more aware, of how things generally don't ever get better for the majority of us, no matter who's in charge. There's always opposition, even among the Dems, some of whom are only too willing to vote for the idiocy. As we've seen, over and over.

It's going to take a massive turn to left of center before we get things changed. We have to weed out every Project 2025 fascist, every MAGA moron, every single person who won't do what needs to be done to even hope to get America back on track.

My New Year's wish is that a miracle happens. I don't often get what I want. So bash and burn me, it doesn't matter. I'm too old and have seen things happen in this country that has broken my heart. Not sure I can take much more of this.

The more seats we flip blue the bigger the mandate will be for good changes to our country.

Look at what Biden was able to get done despite a very slim majority for part of his term and not even having congress for the other part. https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/fact-sheet-the-biden-harris-administration-record

Imagine that kind of progress except even better if we can flip more seats blue!

But also even if we flip a lot seats blue we should not just go home and say all is done. We must constantly monitor their actions and demand every single Trump goon who did illegal and corrupt things face real justice and we must demand better from all our politicians. Politics is more than just a one day event.

My wife and I get calls for donations to the Congressional and Senatorial campaign funds I we have let them know that unless and until they campaign on holding the Fascists responsible for this BS, while we may donate to individual candidates, don't call.

Create a public option health plan.

Keep the border shut down (border crossings were decreasing in 2024 BEFORE Trump) but stop taking people’s green cards, stop targeting undocumented people with no criminal record. Create a path to citizenship.

End the filibuster and legalize abortion.

There is a substantial part of our population that seem to want to go backwards... to try and recreate a former time in this country.

There needs to be more understanding that we have to go forward, not backward. Backwards will just lead us to the next regime that will use the unregulated greed-induced capitalism that is the state religion around here to get their way right back to where this current crop of animals are.

But, we US dwellers are very good at both not learning our lesson as well as ignoring it. And, we seem to also really hate change. So, I am not exactly holding my breath for the upcoming 'changes'.

No more looking the other way for the best of the country, because, seriously, nothing will get better if the GOP thinks they got away with abusing this country.

Also, work on firming up the Constitution to avoid another Trump. And that includes fixing the weak link: The Supreme Court, which has taken legal reasoning down the rabbit hole to accomplish things that none of our founding fathers ever wanted for this country.

And a third rail: Undue the economic damage caused by Trump..
