I suspect the pseudo-cultural distractions are insidious and much more subtle than we can easily see. Its like we've become the very tools we thought useful for OUR own benefit - all wrought by years of crafty corporate planning designed to keep us sharp, squared, well-oiled and running smoothly, in other words, compliant. Both machine and manufactured product, I think, are the source of our distress and what Mr. Whelan is referring to.

Thank you for this post, sprink.

People are backing away from the decades of conditioning we, as a society, have embraced. We have been conditioned to seek out the euphoric effects of instant gratification and dominance over other people and our situations we find ourselves in regularly.

This guy is correct and is identifying a necessary tempering of our desire for euphoric sensations. Note my sig line.
