The city of Minneapolis has confirmed in a social media post that a shooting involving federal law enforcement has occurred.
"We are aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Please avoid this area."
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara is on the scene.

I'm not providing much more of an excerpt because it's live reporting, changing very quickly, and is part of a larger surge of ICE activity in the Twin Cities. Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses say ICE agents shot into a car, killing a white woman who had been observing. There is an eyewitness account at the link.

A witness to Wednesday’s shooting in south Minneapolis told MPR News that she saw a federal agent shoot a woman several times.

Emily Heller lives near 33rd and Portland and said she woke up to a commotion outside her home. She said she saw a car blocking traffic on Portland Avenue that appeared to be part of a protest against federal law enforcement operations.

Heller said she heard ICE agents telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here.”

“She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times,” Heller said.

Heller said it appeared the woman then accelerated and traveled about 100 feet before striking a utility pole and some other vehicles. She could be seen slumped over inside her car.

4) State and Federal law govern the positions up for election; the current office holders terms expire at the end, just like Trump's term expires on 01/20/2028. Elections are required by law to fill those positions.

Some say the driver (a woman) was shot and killed, while others say the driver's passenger (a woman) was killed. The driver was executing a turn and trying to leave as the ICE agent screamed and pointed a gun at her windshield. The ICE agent wasn't being threatened in any manner but he shot at the car. It looks like 10 or 12 witnesses were standing right in the road when it happened.

This is murder, probably 1st degree murder. There is no justification for the shooting.

Witnesses told FOX 9 a woman got into a red vehicle in the area of Portland Avenue and East 34th Street Wednesday morning. There was one ICE agent on either side of the vehicle trying to get in, and a third ICE agent came and tried to yank on the driver's side door. One of the agents on the driver's side door backed away a little bit, and then opened fire, shooting three times through the driver's side window. One witness said the vehicle wasn't moving toward the agents.

Meanwhile, witnesses say a doctor was at the scene and tried to help the woman who had been shot but the ICE agents refused to let the doctor in to help. Ten to 15 minutes later, an ambulance arrived but was blocked by ICE vehicles that had occupied the street. Witnesses said ICE agents then carried a "limp body" to the end of the street, and then the person was loaded into the ambulance.
