I saw my first Tesla Cyber Truck yesterday. They're even uglier in real life.

Driving along, there it was, making a right turn onto the main drag. It looked clumsy and idiotic. It looked like a geometric tin can collage. I guess owning one makes some kind of vague "political" statement.

We were trying to figure out how the driver was able to sed behind him. I guess they use cameras, because it didn't look like there was any visibility. It's a repulsive vehicle.

Apart from the many reported design, mechanical, quality control, usability, insurance and reliability issues, the things are just butt ugly. The stainless steel body panels appear wavy and uneven, the finish always looks like it needs a good scrubbing. It's totally useless as a truck; the bed is tiny and I've never seen anyone actually hauling or towing anything with them. And Youtube is full of videos showing CTs getting stuck in off-road situations a Subaru could handle with no problem. Can't understand why anyone would pay $100K for one.

Having ridden in one, their only saving grace is the neat bells and whistles, which other Tesla vehicles probably have. The full 360° 3D image of the vehicle's surroundings is particularly cool, in my opinion.

Even so, I'd never drop the kind of money it takes to buy one, especially since up here in Canada there have been reports of the body panels falling off because the adhesive can't stand up to the cold in winter.

Ah well, we can always reminisce about how Musk bragged about the "reinforced" windows during the reveal and then broke one with a thrown rock.

One is bare metal silver like they forgot to paint it.The other was completely painted with a local company logo & listing all the products they offer. Sure, that will get people's attention on the road, but seems a bad idea to advertise just how stupid you are if you wanna stay in business. It's not like work equipment could be packed in or on that insane excuse for a pick-up truck.

Have seen both of those abominations several times now; can't decide which one is uglier. The way people drive around here, blowing thru red lighs at 20-30 MPH over the speed limit, and how many big dips we have in roads (to channel monsoon downpurs off roads) I can't see those two pretend trucks lasting long here.

41. Epic flop

Cybertruck is shaping up to be one of the biggest automotive flops in recent memory.
Retail sales are an absolute bloodbath: Tesla managed only about 45,000 deliveries in all of 2025 — a pathetic fraction of the 250,000-per-year target Musk was bragging about just two years ago. Production has been quietly throttled; the Austin lines that were supposed to crank out thousands a week are now barely spitting out 2,000 a month. Dealership lots (and Tesla’s own inventory pages) are overflowing with unsold units, forcing discounts of $10–15k off sticker on brand-new trucks just to move them.
