Huge crowds are out on the streets again in Iran. In Tehrans Tehranser, Punak, and Saadat Abad districts, footage shows large gatherings chanting slogans like Were waiting for Pahlavi, were not going anywhere!

(79,510 posts)🚨 TEHRAN TREMORS: THE CAPITAL IS BURNING.
The Situation: New footage confirms the chaos is escalating. Massive crowds are moving through debris and fires across Tehran tonight.
The Critical Signal: Reports indicate a shocking development on the ground: there is "no apparent military or police response." The security forces have seemingly vanished.
The Reality: The Regime has cut off internet access nationwide to prevent a rebellion, but the protests are only getting bigger. Control is slipping away.

It has already reached the status of full fledged rebellion.
The fires that are being set on military and gov't vehicles and buildings probably can't even be extinguished due to the extreme water shortages in Iran (especially in Tehran).

A better video would be, uh, better support for the claim.

(3,266 posts)What finally set the Iranian people off?
Pahlavi- that was the name of the shah of Iran's family that the us helped to topple back in 1970's-1980s?

(2,468 posts)Inflation has hit over 40%, their currency, the Iranian Rial, has collapsed, it hit something like 1.4 million rials to 1 USD in December. The airstrikes last summer, the ones by Israel and the US, damaged a lot of infrastructure and the government there has been unable to fix it, so blackouts and power outages have been ongoing. Sanctions went back to the more harsh pre 2015 ones when Iran withdrew fully from the IAEA after the airstrikes last summer, and then, apparently, people realized that the nuclear program, which normally could be used as leverage to get the sanctions lowered, was too heavily damaged to be of use at this point. So people went on strike, protests started, the government budget for 2026 showed massive increase in defense and security spending, but none for anything else. So it kinda snowballed. I'm sure foreign intelligence agencies are fanning the flames too.

(8,768 posts)the US and Israel decree. That has been in the works for a very long time and now they will dictate on Iranian oil like the US does on Venezuelan oil. Nasser tried to explain to the people of the Middle East that this is what would happen if they weren't vigilant every moment. Of course the regime was horrible but what is coming is enslavement and oppression of another kind.
