Never want to hear about religion again. Our evangelicals are becoming more and more like the theocrats in Iran.

"liberal talking points," "weak," or "subversive", as some supposed evangelicals have now been saying
about the teachings of Jesus....!

I suspect that one of their major objections is against

Then come, follow me.”

Iranian (living outside Iran) here. Mosques have not been considered a place of worship in Iran for the past 47 years. They are the Basij's (militia branch of IRGC) bases of operation. The large ones even have their own jail, torture rooms & armoury.

Many Iranian millennials & Gen X & Gen Z who have mostly just lived under theology, have grown to hate the religion itself. They are the ones who are asking for the return of the Shah & trying to undo the damage Iranian boomers did by exiling the Shah & giving the country to Islamists.

Edit: What you see in Iran is the result of not separating church and state. When you mix those shits, you end up losing both.
