It doesnât take a trained ear to hear the deflections. Homan does not deny taking a bag of money. The public deserves answers.

(383 posts)Since no criminal charges were brought, Homan was not convicted of bribery or any other crime, and thus was not ordered by a court to return the money as part of any sentencing or restitution. Public corruption experts have noted that while the Justice Department has options for recovering money used in a sting, it is unclear if that will happen in this case, and one headline explicitly stated, "He May Not Have to Return It".

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, three Democratic senators Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Adam Schiff of California, each of whom serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee filed a Freedom of Information Act request in November with the Justice Departments criminal division, demanding a variety of details related to the case.
Its not yet clear when, or if, the senators will receive the answers theyre looking for. Watch this space.
