Most Americans oppose Trump's push on Greenland, poll shows

Americans broadly oppose President Donald Trump’s latest foreign policy ambitions in Greenland, according to a new poll released Thursday, and are skeptical about U.S. incursions abroad.

In a CNN poll released Thursday, 75 percent of those surveyed oppose the U.S. “attempting to take control of Greenland,” including 52 percent who strongly reject the idea. Just one in four respondents said they support efforts to acquire the semi-autonomous Danish territory, which Trump has argued is vital to U.S. national security and strengthening NATO.

Self-described Republicans were evenly split, with 50 percent supporting the president’s efforts and 50 percent opposing them. Democrats were far less divided, with 94 percent opposing the move overall, including 80 percent who said they strongly oppose it.

(snip)

Americans were also skeptical about the stated motives behind U.S. intervention. A majority of Americans said access to Venezuelan oil played a major role in the decision to take military action, while 39 percent said a major factor was to bring Maduro to stand trial in the U.S., and 26 percent said it was to improve the lives of Venezuelans.

I know we don't need a poll to know it isn't a good idea but I think it is good that Americans not only oppose this but also other parts of Trump's foreign policy.

The "Get the US out of the UN" group, who still think the US economy is a 1920's semi-agrarian and resource commodities exporter that maintains its own manufacturing and can afford to isolate itself from the rest of the world.

Because Grandpa had stories about working at the long shut down steel works shop making precision nuts, bolts, and fixture hardware, and Grandma had a WWII job at a chemical factory filling 55 gallon drums of aircraft coating finish to keep the fuselage together (which later caused the cancer that killed her at the age of 45).

Seriously - these people think the limited finishing manufacturing that might be going on in this country is the same parts level manufacturing as it was prior to the manufacturing outsourcing boom of the late 70's and 80's.
They have no clue how modern economics work, even if they're able to balance a checkbook or small business ledger.

He wants to help billionaire mining buddies who can't get a toehold on the continent.
Greenland's people don't want rapacious mining of their minerals.

Justice matters.

Colder temperatures, and fresh water en masse to generate free (for them) electricity using nuclear rods... and without having to pay local taxes.

They use taxpayers money to socialize the costs (including the US armed forces) in order to privatize the profits (like pedo does with Venezuela's oil).

It's a Fascist business model.

Till they are willing to do something about it, their opinions mean nothing.

Get on a train. A train barreling towards a bridge that has fallen down. Ask the folks if they think this is a good idea. The opinions of those in favor or against are absolutely meaningless. Only the opinions of the ones taking action

"Is Greenland's ours for the taking?" "Should Jonathan Ross face charges for murdering someone?" Gah... What the heck and ugh.

There is some sarcasm in the poll titles above, plus some additional drama on my part...

Like:

"Do you think it is important to maintain strong working relationships with countries that have been our allies since WWII?"

and

"If Trump puesues as hostile takeover of Greenland, and this results in the disintegration of alliance with NATO countries, do you still support a hostile takeover of Greenland?"
