Macron Warns of 'Unprecedented Cascading Consequences' if US Seizes Greenland, Government Spokeswoman Says

.French President Emmanuel Macron warned Wednesday that any violation of Greenland’s sovereignty would trigger “unprecedented cascading consequences”, as U.S. President Donald Trump ramps up pressure to take control of the Arctic territory.

The statement came during a cabinet meeting, according to French government spokesperson Maud Bregeon, who quoted Macron as saying: “We do not underestimate the statements on Greenland. If the sovereignty of a European and allied country were affected, the cascading consequences would be unprecedented.” Bregeon added that France is following the situation “with the greatest attention” and “will act in full solidarity with Denmark and its sovereignty.”

This directly references Trump’s repeated assertions that the U.S. should acquire Greenland—an autonomous territory of NATO ally Denmark—for national security and resource reasons, as covered in detail by Reuters. The warning highlights broader European concerns about potential fallout for NATO cohesion and transatlantic relations if forceful action is pursued, with additional context from Le Monde.

Earlier on Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the EU’s strong relationship with Greenland, assuring its people of European support amid the tensions.

...put some sort of policy and programs in place that supports re-shoring manufacturing BEFORE starting tariffs or understood that other countries might be less willing to buy American goods or services after getting brow beat by Donnie and on and on. It's just ready, shoot, aim with this crowd. And the consequences are largely already put into motion just by threatening. Sure, carrying it out would be worse but just being cavalier in the relationship with folks that were friends and allies has already done immeasurable damage that will take decades to undo and make the job of future Presidents very much harder.

A war with NATO would have the following immediate consequences:

Europe sells off trillions in treasury bonds, crashing the dollar and triggering hyperinflation (which will result in skyrocketing interest rates); the US economy collapses.

Apple, Tesla, Amazon, McDonald’s and all other US companies are banned from doing business in the EU. X and Facebook are banned.

Thousands of US troops stationed in Europe become instant POWs, or are sent home without billions of dollars of equipment. Many more die on the tundra in Greenland.

Corporate Donations to republicans evaporate.

Do you think Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos and the rest of the billionaires, bankers and oligarchs will sit quietly and go along with that plan?

And he takes the opportunity to eliminate the opposition (us) in all ways.

Then he is our Putin in the truest sense.

If the economy is at risk of collapse, Trump would no longer be a billionaire, and republicans would never get another penny in donor money, but you think they’d do nothing?

I know several VERY wealthy people. No, none of them are billionaires, but they're at the level that they can literally do anything they want.Worth upper 8 & into 9 figures. I know them well enough to know that being stuck in the best equipped bunker would be misery
I'd bet the SUPER rich are the same way.
