It's very cold today. Cold enough to freeze the tiny balls off a Proud Boy.

Maybe it's a sign from God or Mother Nature or whoever is in charge of such things. NYT has also noticed.

ICE vs. Ice: Protesters in Minneapolis Find an Ally in Winter

Bundled-up residents who have been protesting for days said that a seriously cold stretch would play only to their advantage. “I want it to get cold,” said Chris Foreman, a military veteran who has joined protesters outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, just outside Minneapolis, for six days in a row. “People know that a lot of these ICE guys are from the South. They’re coming into a different environment and they’re not used to it.”

Minneapolis is unusually icy — literally — at the moment. Walking on sidewalks is treacherous, as an immigration agent in a viral video learned this week. Patches of black ice on residential streets are sending cars skidding.

Protesters who are originally from Minnesota say that they are ready with the proper winter gear. Standing outside at demonstrations, they wear woolen socks, double layers of long sleeves and tights, and sometimes ski goggles for a little extra warmth or insulated bibs from Carhartt that might look more fitting in an ice fishing shanty...

“You have to live through these winters to build the kind of resilience it takes to know how to stomach the cold — and how many layers of clothing go where,” he said, adding that if temperatures plunge further, the early mornings could be especially tough for ICE agents unaccustomed to the cold. “I doubt they know what’s coming at them,” he said.

I'm looking forward to the freezing of the Nazis, our mini-Stalingrad.

... we just had a an "multi-agency task force, including ICE" grab two people in Kingsland, TX, about 15miles from here in Marble Falls.

I heard their names, but they didn't sound particularly "foreign". They're being held in Llano County on warrants not associated with immigration. The Burnet County sheriff made sure to announce they weren't held in Burnet County jail.

In addition to gear, acclimation cannot be overstated. That's why when it warms into the low 40's here in Northern New England, we break out the shorts. You can't just drop into the middle of a northern tier Winter and think you can function outside for very long. Maybe if you're "geared" to the point you can't put your arms down. Maybe. Morons don't think ahead which is good for us.

12F today in downtown Minneapolis. Oooo! 4F on MLK! Lows at or below zero. And that constant, northern prairie wind. Welcome to the depths of Winter, boys! Hope you lose some fingers and toes! Or worse.

And cold doesn't usually bother me that much.

Reminds me of what Stalin said regarding the Wehrmacht: "They came uninvited. Let them dance in the frost".

Our hiking club requires members to have ice cleats when snow is on the ground. We are good in our weather. We would not be good in upper peninsula so I can't envision an Oaf Keeper from a southern climate having a good time.

Soooo. What's to prevent carrying water jugs and pouring water where these meatballs are busy making 'merica safe?

How fast would water freeze?

I would love to be on site when one of these assholes bites the du --- sorry, bites the ice and point my finger at him and laugh my ass off.

I have an idea for Minnesota restaurants/hotels & grocery stores. IF YOU WANT ICE GONE, STOP SERVING THEM. If they can't get food or lodging, it will help them leave. Businesses that help ICE are hurting others. YOU & YOUR BUSINESS HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO BUY FOOD/LODGING. That included restaurants and grocery stores. If you see them in line, as soon as they come to counter, close window.
