Our allies will never trust us again

and by "us" I mean the American public, especially the voters. Our allies maybe could have understood a one off after Trump 1.0. but his re-election has made that argument moot.

There is no way, no matter who we elect in 2028, that our allies and neighbor countries can trust that our democracy won't elect a similar moron, Trump clone in the future.

America has become too unreliable. The faith that the free world put in us after WWII, granting us the all-powerful status as the world's reserve currency, is now at risk.

What Trump has done to squander the trust of the world will never be won back, and we will all suffer, whether we like it or not, or whether we like Trump or not.

With the shit-show of his first term and aftermath is losing a second, for American voters to turn around four years later and elect him again (no matter how deranged our election structure) -- our nation/voters/people deserve to be the contempt of the civilized world. That reputation is fucking earned.

They would be foolish to trust the US again anytime soon, even with a change of party heading this country, in all honesty. The US is simply not a responsible partner on the world stage.

Afghanistan? Europe sent troops there to support the failed invasion Trump accelerated by freeing the then jailed Taliban. The ones that took back power thanks to him.

The allied nations sacrificed the best of their troops for what?

Germany, for example. They're a trusted member of NATO right? Yet they had that whole Hitler thing. Same with Italy and Mussolini.

Well trusted partners now, right, despite their history of shit leadership.

Go read a book.

And no one is saying that Italy, France or Germany couldn't elect a far-right wing government that will undermine NATO, just as Hungary is doing now.

The difference is that America is doing it now and supporting those right-wing bastards in other NATO countries.

And, by the way, that's a great comparison of Trump to Hitler and Mussolini.

regimes has been alive for decades. This was pre-Nato.

The OP is right. We, like the other afore-mentioned fascist regimes have lost our allies' trust. NATO is likely dead. If it is replaced with us as members, it will only be YEARS after we are rid of this present fascist government and movement.

I suspect they have read a book. No need to be insulting.

Once trust is broken, it can never be restored. Not as long as there is a Republican Party in the US. Just like Europe could never trust Germany as long as the Nazi Party existed. That is why the Nazi Party (NSDAP) was banned following the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. And that is why the world began to trust Germany again. But here in the US, Republicans, and the 30-40% of Americans who identify with the vile values of the Republican Party, are here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Every country, including all of our allies, now are preparing (if they don't have them already) contingency plans for dealing with a US invasion. Our relationship is forever changed.

All of sudden when American GIs are pointing rifles at them, do they begin to act like normal human beings.

GERMANY WAS UNDER MILITARY OCCUPATION for decades. To make sure they did the right thing.

The US spent $Billions of dollars to rebuild their country and help them understand what they had done
was WRONG.

Yes someone should be reading a book and educating themselves about reality.

being part of the I.C.C.. Short of that, if they should issue warrants for his arrest and his cohorts then the Democratic President should turn all of them over, if requested. Our system has failed us and we have failed the world. The S.C. has already given the President immunity, including any Democrat. It's not appeasement of the world, it is justice.

America doesn't have the stomach so justice must be served abroad. Like Glenn Kirschner always says, "justice matters".

Even if we have a long string of Democratic victories after P*$$Y-Grabber is gone, allies will not trust the US as it will only depend on who wins the elections. They won't base their economies and security on whehter the goddamned repigs have managed to get back in power.

I would like to think that this "experiement" with P*$$Y-Grabber as President would teach the idiots a lesson, but then I think of Fox News. They will never stop their lies, and those who watch Fox will know nothing else.

The American sense of community, with shared obligations to each other as citizens and members of society, has been shredded by relentless cultural hero-worship of "entrepreneurs" and the primacy of "winning" as the measure of success. Over decades, the America's self-portrait transmogrified from the home of the greatest democracy to the home of American capitalism, the greatest economic system.
