Border czar says, Jonathon Ross may sue for defamation of being labled a murderer

Last edited Sun Jan 18, 2026, 10:28 AM - Edit history (1)

A senior White House official suggested that Jonathan Ross, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, could pursue legal action for defamation against individuals who labeled him a “murderer” online and in public remarks.

“I think you may see him take action,” Tom Homan, the White House border czar, said on the Will Cain Country podcast, adding that Ross has gone into “hiding.”

Homan said he expects Ross to “wait for this investigation to pan itself out” before deciding on any legal steps, noting that social media posts have circulated with Ross’s image and “wanted for murder” language.

That's right, come out of hiding to file your defamation. Let's just see what happens.

against defamation, and a civil lawsuit is decided on "a preponderance of evidence" NOT on "beyond a reasonable doubt". If he thinks put his hateful face in the press MORE is going to help his case

THINK AGAIN MOTHERFUCKER!

Just like when Trump called E. Jean Carroll a "liar" for revealing that he raped her years ago, all she had to do was show, via a "preponderance of evidence" that it's likely what she said was true. If Trump had simply STFU, the story would have eventually disappeared. This guy might have to move to his wife's home country of the Philippines. Good riddance!

First, a false or exaggerated claim was made over an internal bleeding injury, much like Trump's ear injury.

Then comes the lawsuit to throw people off. But what Ross doesn't seem to understand is that a countersuit would mean discovery. And, oh, wouldn't that be interesting to investigate his social media posts, once we demand the FBI to return his laptops?

ABC and Stephanopoulos to pay Trump $15M, apologize in defamation suit settlement

ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos reached a settlement with President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday, with the network agreeing to issue an apology and pay a Trump-related foundation $15 million in addition to $1 million for Trump’s attorney fees.

The settlement, filed in federal court in Miami Saturday afternoon, marks a win for Trump, who sued the network and its star anchor for libel after Stephanopoulos said on air that Trump was found liable for the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll. Last year, a jury hearing a civil suit brought by Carroll found that Trump sexually abused and defamed her, but found Trump not liable for rape. Still, a federal judge in New York later ruled that it was accurate to say that Trump was found liable for rape in “common modern parlance.”

They would first have to somehow establish this is not a murderer and saying so is false (and it is completely valid that someone might believe what he did is muder based on what is publicly known and seen). Then going forward it would be defamation to say it knowing this is proven false. Anything said prior to this is not defamation if the speaker believed it to be true and reasonably so.

I’ve watched the videos enough and I pretty sure there were 3 shots. One was on her forearm which I’d guess was from the natural instinct to raise your arm or hand. 4 wounds from 3 shots. She was probably already dead from the first one through the windshield.

Fox News gave the best linkable summary I could find.

Good, 37, suffered two gunshot wounds to the right side of her chest, one to her left forearm and one "with protruding tissue on the left side of the patient’s head," according to the report. Blood was also flowing from her left ear, the report said.

Initial reports indicated Good had been shot three times during the Jan. 7 incident.
