https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47650384/green-day-open-super-bowl-mvp-anniversary-ceremonyGreen Day will kick off the big game with an opening ceremony Feb. 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the league announced Sunday. The performance will celebrate six decades of the championship's history, with the band helping usher generations of Super Bowl MVPs onto the field.
The trio, who formed in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area and are made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, are expected to perform a selection of their best-known anthems as part of the tribute.
"We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!" lead singer Armstrong said. "We are honored to welcome the MVPs who've shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let's have fun! Let's get loud!"
The ceremony will air live at 6 p.m. ET on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock and Universo.

The MAGAts who've been whining for months about Bad Bunny doing the halftime show aren't likely to be happy about Green Day, either.
Good!

Even funnier if the dotard is in attendance.

I have no idea what they will do, but I'm sure they will make their opinions of Trump clearly known.

Despite their obvious political position, I think they'll respect the honor of getting this slot & not cause the NFL or the network a case of heartburn.
Everybody knows what he thinks. His mere presence on TV will irritate trump & Armstrong can revel in just being a rock in the shoe.
So, I'm predicting the opposite.

(9,131 posts)7. Making their opinion clear could be something as simple as playing American Idiot
which I think they will do.

I think only Good Riddance is better known from their catalog. (Maybe When I Come Around?)
It would be a shock if they didn't do it.
