The market is going to be a wreck today

January’s gains are going bye-bye.

Thanks, pedophile.

I sold most of what I had when it hit $1800 an oz. a several years ago.

However, I did not sell all of it. I kept a small amount of it *thank god*.

I love my gold, oh yes I do!

To hell with the stock market. I've never played with it. I got burned once and never went back!

Not a great day to sell or is it?

It was a cute little Mexican 2 peso coin containing 1.5 grams of gold. Today, I could sell that same gold coin for $210

I almost sold them but decided not to being gold has been great.

The time to buy was when spot was at $300/oz. in 2002.

Boy, was I wrong.

And silver-- the junk silver I bought for 3.5X face back in the 90s is looking really good right now. I hope it's not another Hunt Brothers deal

Cash money devalues.... even if just a little bit.

Though the current spike is an indicator of all the uncertainty. IF things stabilize, I expect the folks buying in now will be in for some disappoint in the short-medium term if they want to value it compared to the dollar.

Over the weekend, the Orange Idiot ramped up tensions with Europe (that sounds more nuts every time I say it) and imposed tarrifs on countries that won't support his imperial land grab. Europe is considering substantial retaliation. Markets no likey.

We're in the midst of moving around some retirement savings so on Friday afternoon I took my wife's IRA out of mutual funds and put it all into government securities. At the time I was afraid Trump might attack Iran or Greenland over the 3-day weekend, so my instincts weren't completely off.

Feeling pretty smart this morning.

because I knew he was going to trash the economy, but the dollar will be a mess too. No escaping that.

Buckle up.
