Yes, he is a Russian asset.
For some, there has never been any doubt.
But, his threats against Greenland and the NATO alliance have removed all doubts.
All the countries of the world have denounced his intentions to invade Greenland, except one.
The newspapers in Moscow do not have one unkind word for Mr Trump. They applaud his "historical" actions. They stroke his ego and massage all the right places.
But to everyone else, he has gone insane.
He has shown over and over again that his loyalties are with Putin and Russia. From his very first day, when he kicked the American press out of the White House, and was photographed thru the window laughing and joking with Lavrov and the Russian Ambassador. From when he stood on the stage at Helsinki and tore down our own country in defense of Putin, that seemed to be the last straw. But then, he accuses Ukraine of being at fault for Russia invading them. He deserts the NATO alliance to side with Putin as he attempts to conquer Ukraine.
And now, he wants to finish the job for Putin. He is single-handedly tearing down the NATO alliance, the lifetime dream of Vladimir Putin. There can be no more denial. There can be no more excuses. Donald Trump is working for Russia. Putin could do no more damage to America if he was sitting in the White House.

(31,386 posts)Everything Krasnov touches dies.
He has sided with Russia in the invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine is going to win. This will be the telling year for Putin, if he doesn't make major gains this year he is going to have to retreat in humiliation. Ukraine is going to win without any help from Krasnov.
Putin only has a war economy right now, his domestic economy is in the shitter. He can't bring back the troops from Ukraine, he has to place to put them in Russia, no jobs.

(4,938 posts)The writing is on the wall whether over a political issue like Greenland or just that Trump walks us away unilaterally, the fact that they cannot count on us being there when they need us vs. Russia is clear. Not a question of if, just when. Their hard internal issues are that many of their economies are not in great shape, hard tradeoffs between social programs and military spending will have to be made (or taxes increased) and their populations are really not interested in being part of bigger and truly capable militaries which means very unpopular mandatory drafts. Having served in Germany in my army days in the late 70s, while they had a much bigger military force (2500 tanks vs. now 350; 450,000 troops vs. now maybe 200,000), the majority were very poorly motivated draftees just doing their two years and then gone. Certainly actually defending their homeland against immediate aggression would stiffen their resolve but if your training has been nonchalant and you have no serious warfighting experience in the ranks and officer corps, its a big lift to be a capable force overnight. Their other major problem is that the US has the only comprehensive intelligence network-- the satellites, eavesdropping and large scale analysis capability that has the experience in depth as well. Must be a lot of hard conversations and hand wringing going on behind closed doors in the EU.

(29 posts)Europe is fully armed and nuclear capable. Putin bit off more than he can chew with Ukraine and is already conscripting men well over the conscription age of 18-30. Putin is a POS but I don't think he is a suicidal POS. Europe will need to maintain the NATO alliance even without America.
NATO minus the United States fields approximately:
▪️2.1 to 2.3 million Active-Duty Personnel
▪️1.7 to 1.9 million Reserves
▪️3.8 to 4.1 million Total Personnel.

(4,938 posts)between the EU and Erdogan's Turkey on substantive matters economic, political and military over the last decade that opens the strength of relationship to some question in my mind. At the end of the day, Turkey has much more economic interdependency with the EU than Russia and that may be an insurance policy to Turkey's support to NATO. My worry with Turkey, Hungary and even Spain is that for various different reasons at different times they row in their own direction and at their own pace. In matters of political discussion, that is inconvenient but fine. In a military confrontation, arriving late to the matter can be terribly consequential.

(2,342 posts)Been a few decades since Ive watched the movie, but Trump has always been the Manchurian candidate.
But that was a movie and this is brutally real.
He is clearly doing Putins bidding. Has been since at least 2015.
Amazing that our illustrious media (the orgs that arent already fully captured) cannot discern a very obvious pattern of behavior.

(17,367 posts)The smart ones did. She was Secretary of State and knew more about what was going on behind the scenes than the orange monster could ever know. Because of that, Putin was afraid she would win so he did all he could to get Fat Hitler in office.
The gullible ones in our country just couldn't stand the thought of a woman being smarter and more experienced than a man.

(8,542 posts)At least that is my considered opinion. What could be more convenient for Putzin than to have the major European powers deploy military personnel and equipment to defend Greenland? This would slow down NATO's rapid response plan to protect Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania from being quickly overrun by Ruzzia.
I saw in the news from Estonia yesterday that they will send no more than a handful of personnel to Greenland for the planned European military exercises. This tells me they feel the need to keep their defense forces at home in case of an invasion.

(931 posts)If Greenland isn't given to America, Russia or China would take it over. That is an admission that Trump would not join with the rest of NATO to protect Greenland in the unlikely event that China or Russia would attack that country.

Both Russia and China are well aware. It's called "a MAD" deterent...
The fearmongering lie (called Fascist propaganda) that Russia and China would take over Greenland is just that: Fascistic fearmongering propaganda to distract from the Trump-Epstein files.
Of course, they deny being Nazis using Nazi methods...
