When Ai Took Over
I dreamed Darn Old Dump got his wish and Ai took over. This caused a huge population of unemployment, so Don told the companies to keep all the workers on so he wouldn't bad unemployment numbers. So companies devised whole departments in their organizations of 'Undisclosed Occupations' and every day I would go to work and wander the halls. I would ask my manager if he had anything for me to do and the answer was always 'just keep doing what you're doing and look busy'. One day he gave me a black metal part and told me to see if I could find what it belonged to, it was important. I checked every copier and printer in the place and it matched nothing. There was a very lovely woman scientist and I asked her, and she didn't know and it wasn't anything she was working on. We talked for about an an hour. I finally left it in a box with some paper clips on top of a machine. One day I walked down the block to the beach and walked along the beach. The company finally decided to rotate people with the same skills into the undisclosed department so some of us could have something to do. And so, for a month, experienced engineers and scientists would roam the halls while the rest of us took their places, and vice versa.
This was Trump's America.
