I'm not sure our country understands the situation

At least not enough of us.

I haven't listened to broadcast news in awhile and the complete disconnect from reality is mind boggling.
They act and speak about things is this very academic/uncritical manner, very removed from the urgency on the situation we are facing.

Just the situation with Greenland and the EU alone is likely the most serious threat we have had since WWI and it's entirely our own fault the problem exists or at its this administration's fault.

I mean we are talking about open war with all of Europe and likely total economic collapse and that is not hyperbole as much as we would all like it to be.

My whole point is that this is about as serious a moment in our country's history as we have ever faced and I just don't think we, as a nation not those here at DU, are not prepared and largely sticking their head in the sand on all this.

Is the UBER Rich, Top1%ers, crash the stock market and retirement investments, and freeze SSI and this nation's 99% will immediately be in poverty, and total anarchy.....

Maybe now, everyone is understanding why the Police, Ice, Border Patrol, Secret Service, DC National Guard, ATF, FBI,and Regular army have invaded Washington D.C. To make the city a fortress against angry citizens, and protect the Trump & Republican CABAL
Everyone witnessed what happened with the insurrectionists, and that was a crowd of only 5,000. That was the reason for the massive build up in Washington DC.......

BTW: how about Trump & NOEMNUTS..... sending 1600 Army Rangers to Minneapolis IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE POSSE COMATAUS ACT????????????????????????? just inching ahead, like the Republicans have been doing since 1980, playing the long game.......seeing if the citizens draw a line in the dirt, if they don't another poke, then another, etc After 45+ years of the Public Sleeping through each move, HERE WE ARE TODAY, Folks....

I don't think a massive die off in the US - especially old and vulnerable people - will change the regime's direction.

Instead it means that more of the money in the Treasury does not need to be sent out and can be put to other purposes....

Even here. I understand that people need to hold together their emotions. Yet, when I posted a similar thought a few days ago ( I deleted ) some replies advised me to wait for the midterms or to become involved in local volunteer efforts, which I already do. . I love this community, and we’re all scared and stressed. But , the line has been crossed a hundred times .

It’s already too late. The Republican fascist criminal syndicate has nearly completed the coup.

The congress is mostly bench warmers.

Perhaps Europe will save us, certainly not our military which has already shown they will obey unlawful orders.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. I hope you receive supportive comments,

My spouse still works in Europe and I want him to come home without fear. The 12 hour flights are enough stress. This political breakdown is deadly sometimes.

You're not the only one feeling helpless. I've lost count of the number of nights I've awakened out of nightmares... or night terrors... drenched in sweat, thanks to the orange idiot. And I should be WAY past the time of night sweats!

starting point should be how any kind of coherent, competent, smart, beneficial, or good action come from a disordered, sociopathic, narcissistic, damaged, broken brain? Given the obvious labels that can be applied to almost all the actions over the last year....greedy, cruel, arrogant, ignorant, incompetent, limited....can't we ask WHY this is....what's the source of the cruelty...who causes it and why...so that we don't start without context for every discussion??

Agree this is misunderstood and very, very dangerous.

is the end of the American exceptionalism and a long fight to return to relevance as a nation

A genuine hot civil war and international chaos and reshake is probably our next best outcome.

Ending up as a Chinese vassal state is looking more and more likely every day.
