MD-GOV: Hogan says he won't run again for Maryland governor, other public office

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) said Tuesday he will not run again for public office, ruling out another bid for his old seat and ending speculation about a possible return to politics.

“I care deeply about the state of Maryland, and I remain concerned about the direction of our nation’s politics, but I have no intention of running for office again,” Hogan wrote in an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun.

“It was an honor to serve, but it’s time to look forward, not back,” he continued. “The fight for Maryland and America’s future does not belong to any one person or any one party; it belongs to the people.”

The moderate Republican, who ran unsuccessfully for Senate in 2024, urged his party to embrace term limits on elected officials and look forward toward a new generation of leaders.
