When, where, by whom, etc. It could be a bullet, suffocation, falling out of a window, burned at the stake, guillotine, poison, bow and arrow, swords/duel, etc.
I prefer slow torture throughout eternity so he must be kept alive. I have insomnia and when I try to fall asleep I think of painful ways to torture him (Spanish Inquisition type stuff). I always end up falling asleep with a smile on my face.

Jealous, stymied, betrayed.
They have the proximity and have to tolerate the stench, indignities, suspicion, disrespect and distrust on a personal level.
