Howard Lutnick heckled at World Economic Forum dinner

US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick was heckled at a World Economic Forum dinner in Davos hosted by BlackRock’s Larry Fink, according to people at the event. The gathering on Tuesday night descended into uproar after combative remarks from Lutnick, the people said, with widespread jeering, some guests walking out and appeals for calm from Fink, head of the world’s largest asset manager and interim co-chair of WEF.

…Lutnick told his audience that the world should focus on coal as an energy source rather than renewables, according to one person present, and made dismissive comments about Europe. He had earlier on Tuesday written an op-ed for the FT in which he said: “We’re not going to Davos to uphold the status quo. We’re going to confront it head on.” He also wrote: “We are here at Davos to make one thing crystal clear: With President Trump, capitalism has a new sheriff in town.”

One chief executive present described the atmosphere as “tense”, while another said it was “noisy and spicy”. One of the hecklers was Al Gore, the former US vice-president, according to two executives present.

…The commerce department and WEF did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

You can argue that Russia used Facebook and other social media to target misinformation to voters in swing states, but in terms of votes cast, Trump won swing states with Democrats in charge.

For Kamala, she lost Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Arizona all with Democrats controlling the state government.

We should NOT be like Republicans claiming we won when we didn't. Not to mention, we still need to understand why he won in spite of a very nasty campaign and 34 felony convictions! It seems that in all elections since 2016, there has been enough unhappiness that being the party in power is a negative.

Hand counting of all votes is rarely done unless their is a recount. That happens if the difference is below a threshold or if one side pays for it. NONE of the states were that close.

Trump said Musk cheated. Why don't people believe him?

In 2016 the hand counted recounts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania were paid for, but not done.

Republicans have proved their willingness to cheat.

European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde walked out during his speech.

The US commerce department said: “Only one person booed, and it was Al Gore.”

and able to REDUCE their coal usage while vastly expanding their use of renewables. Even if there were no climate and health consequences of using the dirtiest possible fuels, economics alone dictate the renewable path. Renewables now are the lowest cost of electricity. After the initial investment, you get 30-50 years of energy that is almost free, but for the cost of maintenance and land leases. China is giving themselves a fundamental economic advantage over us for generations to come. While Trump wants to piss away $1,500,000,000,000 a year on the war industry, China is beating us without ever having to fire a single bullet.

In 1998, Lutnick purchased a Manhattan property at 11 East 71st Street, behind the Henry Clay Frick House, from the Comet Trust. The townhouse was previously owned by an entity associated with businessman Les Wexner and Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and child sex offender.[100] Lutnick had extensively renovated its interior renovations by May 2001.[101] Epstein also lived next door at 9 East 71st Street, as he and Lutnick were neighbors, with Epstein likewise purchasing his home in 1998, too. Lutnick still owns his mansion, as of 2025.[102][103][104]
