***January Photo Contest Winners Thread

Thank you for all your votes for our pets, past and present.

The first place vote getter was strongermessage with I think my rescue dog, Emme, loves me!!! They get to choose the subject of the February contest.

Second place is Diamond_Dog with Sophie with her favorite Spiky Ball

Rounding out the top three is First Mate submitted by Legger

Again, thank you for all the votes and thank you to the photographers for their submissions.

Looking forward to the February contest.

8. Emme's story...

She was found in Mississippi by a man from Ohio who was working there. She had been thrown out of a moving vehicle (her spine was badly damaged) and was covered with ticks. He brought her back to Ohio and through our son we ended up taking her. She was the sweetest, most lovable dog and brought us much joy. She had a lot of physical damage from the abuse and passed because of that. We had her only two short years but so happy that she had a wonderful life with us. We wanted to share this picture because of that sweet face and soul of hers. I will never understand how anyone could abuse an animal.

She knew only love in her final years. People who abuse animals make me hope there is a hell

...especially to my wife Legger for her third place finish. I thought I had taken this photo, but she reminded me that she always sat in the front of the kayak.

We lost little Chica two years ago and still miss her like crazy.

The love of our pets is visible in every photo, and in the winning one, Emme shows us that it is mutual.
That photo grips my heart.
Wonderfully run contest. Great Job urbanhermit.
