I worked in NYC back in 1969-71.
I used to read the Village Voice all the time and even got a subscription sent to me when I was back in Arkansas.
It seems to me that I remember a series of stories about tenement owners setting fire to their buildings even when people were inside to be able to rebuild new buildings that could be rented for more money.
I was wondering if it is a fake memory. If real, could those have been Trump buildings?

(827 posts)This is something that went on in NYC. I do not know if any of the buildings were Trump owned.

(2,769 posts)I grew up the South Bronx during that time. I was lucky my building never had a fire. We knew the landlords were setting the fires for insurance. tRump didn't own any of them.
We ended up moving to the North Bronx and it seemed like the country to me.
