Tim Macklin Sr. is the fellow who is/was a con supporter. Tim Granger, her father, has never discussed his political affiliation.
I really wanted to clarify this because it's bothering me. With all the disgusting things the con and his cult have said about the murder of Renee by ICE, and the repulsive and outright lies they have told in attempts to justify her murder, I'm not going to let them alter her identity without correction.

But it's a mistake I strongly believe needed to be corrected in her memory.

... We want to thank everyone who has reached out in support of Renee and our family. The kind of unending care weve been given during this time is exactly the kind that she gave to everyone. Nae was the beautiful light of our family and brought joy to anyone she met. She was relentlessly hopeful and optimistic which was contagious. We all already miss her more than words could ever express.
She was our best friend with a seemingly infinite capacity for love. Nae-Nae gave everything she had to take care of her friends and family, and indeed people she never met. If there was any celebration for any one of us, Nae amplified it. If there was sorrow, she was with you for all of it. Nae found joy in others being comforted and was herself a fountain of comfort. She was our protector, our shoulder to cry on, and our scintillating source of joy. She edited all of our writing, and we feel her absence deeply as we struggle to compose this statement without her gentle guidance. Knowing we cant match her eloquence, we are remembering Nae in all the little things shed be doing for us today. She is in the tight hug we offer each other as we lean on the counter. Shes in the goofy cackles we elicit in each other as we recall sweet memories, and shes in the tears we leave on each others shirts. She is in the flow state that comes when your spirit is creating something passionate to share with others. Her voice is the one singing the song stuck in your head. More than anything, she is there when your heart breaks and fills for another person. When we remember Nae, we remember her abundant heart, and we will move forward imitating that unending care.
We appreciate our privacy as we continue to mourn at this time ...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Renee Goods former father-in-law said he always had a positive relationship with her and remembered her as outgoing and a real good person.
Her death last Wednesday following a fatal encounter with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis has been really hard on the family, Tim Macklin Sr. said in an interview Tuesda ...
The elder Macklin, a preacher in Knoxville, said that he remained in touch with Good over the years and that she would bring his grandson for visits about twice a year.
I think shes a great person, he said ...

(7,487 posts)It doesn't change anything about Renee. It does give background, perhaps, on why she chose the path she did. I marched and protested in the 60's and 70's. My family was mixed politics, although we had none who were passionate cons. They were mostly one item believers, usually the 2nd amendment mistranslation. My great-grandfather and I were the politically passionate ones in the family, and we'd have made a heady duo if he hadn't died before I was of sentient age. But my father came from the old time Republicans, and the NRA had their hooks in him big time. I was even a member as a kid... and took part in all their sharpshooter events at the cop shops. Even one 1st place one year. Still... look at how *I* turned out!
IMO, if they truly find out which members were con in Renee's family, knowing Maga the way we do, I think they'd be more of a target for raising what maga would see as a traitor. Just my opinion, based on my own experience. BTW, older republicans are different than today's con's. Most of them are now dead, like my Dad. My Dad was a big believer in FDR, in the New Deal, but as much as he differed with Kennedy on politics, he really admired him and how he handled the Bay of Pigs. My Dad, a decorated WWII Medic, is probably turning over in his grave at what has become of the republican party. I honestly think he'd be changing party affiliations if he were alive today. And I think he'd be as enraged with feelings of wanting to do something drastic to change things as I feel right now. He knew the dangers the Nazi's posed and hated them with all his might. The war was something that never left him, his whole life. All I ever heard him say was that he'd "seen too much" to not feel that way.
